British House of cards tonight-NC PBS

I don't know if all PBS affiliates are doing it, but UNC-TV is beginning reruns of the original British version of House of Cards tonight, Monday, April 7th, 2014 with an overnight repeat.

Excellent! It's available for streaming on Netflix, but now others can see it too.

Almost all the way through it on Netflix - better than the U.S. version.

I find it hard to believe that they can really be compared. Isn't the original a 4 episode series?

Netflix's has 26 in the bag and is still going.

Opinions aside, my point was just that they are apparently very different shows and that a simple statement of "better" or "worse" isn't very helpful or accurate.

I've seen all of them.

The American version contains most of the elements of the British version with minor variations and padding.

Spoiler:
Some of the minor variations seemed to have caused unintentional ambiguity. In the British version F.A. murdered the journalist by throwing her off the roof garden of the House of Commons, in the American he threw her underneath a train - but I seem to recall not everybody in this forum realising F.A. had thrown her under the train.

For my money the actor in the British version did a better job of breaking the fourth wall.

Coincidentally I have posted very recently one of my favourite lines from a TV show is "You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment" - and that it was better played in the British version.

^^ Totally inappropriate to put spoilers like that in this thread.

Excellent point.

If it had been me I would have reported it to a moderator to ensure it was fixed as quick as possible.

The original differed from the novel on which it was based in one important element, and that allowed for a sequel, "To Play The King", and a sequel to that, "The Final Cut", so 12 episodes in total.

I haven't seen the US version.

The US version is one of my favorite current shows.

I'm interested in seeing the BBC's also - just haven't had time to yet.
