I have a tivo remote with a 1 - 2 dvr switch. I have a series 3 and an elite that I would like to have in the same room. Can I program one of my tivo's to accept dvr 2 only?
I can't figure out how to do this...not sure why I have the slide switch on my remote if it's not possible.

Put the switch in the "1" position, cover up the front of the remote with one hand, hold down the pause button and then hold down the TiVo button until the led on the remote comes on. Then press the "1" button. Uncover the remote and press channel up or down. Then exit the system information screen.
Then go to where you have the Premiere and go through the same process, using its remote (I know it doesn't have a 1-2 switch), except press the "2" button.
Then take the first remote, put the switch in the "2" position and do the same thing, except there is no need to put the TiVo on the system information screen since all you are doing at that point is programming the remote.
Once you have the TiVos in the same location, avoid having either of them on the system information screen when you have the 1-2 switch set to control the other one.

Thanks for the reply...I used those same instructions that I found online with no luck. I had to call tivo tech to resolve the issue. We ended up resetting the remote and starting from scratch.
Thanks!

While we're here... has anyone ever managed to get the now playing list button working on a Premiere?
I've tried setting the remote code on my old Sony to 1, 2, or 3, but my premiere never responds.

I'm not sure what you mean, but a Sony Tivo remote won't work on a non-Sony DVR. They use a proprietary code.

Huh... I wonder how I had that working on my S3? It's been so long that I don't remember how I got my Harmony programmed :-)

You were controlling an S3 with an S1 Sony remote?

If you load the S1 Sony version of the TiVo 3.0 OS on an S1 Philips, you have to use the Sony remote codes to control the Philips.
If you load the Philips version of the S1 OS on the Sony, you have to use the Philips/TiVo remote codes to get it to work.
To the best of my knowledge that is the only exception.
I do not recommend actually "cross-pollinating" your S1 that way.
Actually, all of those remote codes are "proprietary".
