I needed another HD box from Comcast which was going to cost me $15 a month. Found out for $15.75 I could get an HD DVR from them. I also changed packages that saved me $20 a month for one year. That gave me a second comcast DVR.I picked up both units at the local office. Hooked them up and one worked and one didn't. They are sending a guy out out Fri to see what's wrong. Looks to me like the box is defective. Comcast tech on phone tried to say it was my electrical outlet even though the unit powered on and got a picture but non of the controls would work.

What did you get for a DVR? Are you Motorola or SA/Cisco area?

I have Comcast; but I also have a Tivo HD and a Series 2 single tuner because I don't want anyone else's DVR if it doesn't function the way Tivo does. Does any company other than Tivo make a DVR that runs on Tivo software?

The DVR's from comcast are labeled Comcast on the front. Is it a black box with touch controls, white LED display & blue power indicator.

I had to swap out a box (Motorola DCT3416) this week due to random reboots, And the replaced it with a Motorla DCX3400-m

The Motorola Logo has been replaced by the Comcast Logo on mine.

I havent used either of the two new ones yet as a dvr. I will have to see if it really is and get back to you.

Ok just looked and it says on the top of the unit on the left hand side above where yours has the M:

HD duel tuner DVR

It is also MoCA compliant, meaning that the box is multi-room capable, should Comcast allow it in your area.
