I have to say that for me this had to be one of the worst episodes musically.
I am not a teenage girl and have not listened to any Beiber music and was very disappointed to have a whole episode devoted to him especially with the tease of anthems.
The other supporting songs, while well sung, I just didn't know so I could not really get into them.
Original songs on Glee? I truly hope that they do not go down this path. I watch this show to hear great covers and original arrangements of great songs.

I found this episode to be extremely weak, especially after two strong episodes. Beiber, really?
Another good Brittney quote: In response to what an Anthem is "It is what is at the bottom of and ant's pants".
The only song I really enjoyed was "Take me or Leave me".
Sounds like they are finally going to get to do an all original song episode. Wonder if they are going to make it regionals?

Well, it really wasn't an episode "devoted" to Bieber. He only had two songs of the 5 songs performed on this episode. And you have to admit, it was only a matter of time before they did his songs, especially since he is one of the biggest selling artists out there right now. At least they seemed to get it all out of their system at this point. :) As for the Bieber songs, I'm no fan of his, but the songs were actually not that bad. I think the difference is actually hearing them from actual male voices, and not a 16 year old girl's voice. :) I still wouldn't listen to them again.
"Take Me Or Leave Me" - one of the best songs from "Rent." Unfortunately, as performed on Glee it was just OK, since they divorced it of all context and emotion from the musical. (Probably a coincidence, but the song as performed in "Rent" is one of the big solos for the character of Maureen, which was originated by Idina Menzel, who plays Rachel's mom here on Glee.)
I really enjoyed the My Chemical Romance song "Sing" at the end. The full version is actually even better. They didn't do that great a job editing it to shorten it for broadcast, particularly since as an anthem, it builds in intensity and emotion gradually throughout the song, and shortening it for broadcast detracts from that. The original version of this song is very good, and this was one that actually felt like they may have improved on the original in a couple of ways, specifically the addition of female vocals to what was originally exclusively a male lead vocal song.
I have to admit, I completely fast forwarded over "I Know What Boys Like." I hate the song, I hate the original performance, and from what little I heard before I hit the FF button, I could tell I'd hate the version here. I also fast forwarded over the "This Little Light of Mine" bit in the hospital... sorry, but little kids singing doesn't do anything for me.
Plot? Oh, there was a plot to this episode? Hmm... someone's going to help me out here, I'm blanking. ;)

Sue weasel's her way in to Glee only to find a way to backstab Mr. Shu.
Sam is a complete idiot until Santana has to hit him over his head about Quinn's infidelity. (But, of course, Quinn had just decided that she wanted to stay with Sam instead of Finn. What a conicdence!)
Really not much plot going on this week.
As an aside, we never saw Aural Intensity at last year's regionals, correct? We only heard them on the speakers in the Green Room?

I think you're right. They're certainly not a track available for download that I can see.
Weak Episode. I did not know any of the songs this week. I did like the one Rachel and Mercedes did for the Diva 0ff. The last song was not too bad and it was nice to see the whole glee club perform together again.
Last night I actually went to Youtube and watched/listened to the Glee versions of Imagine, True Colors, Welcome Christmas and One of Us. These songs were far more group oriented than what we have been seeing lately.

Go back and watch it. Not for the music, but to watch Tina and Brittany dancing around and to see the reaction of the other Glee kids. It' kinda funny.
I laughed at Brittany talking about a goat eating Rachael's money. Also, the idea of Rachael paying her money to try to establish her fashion choices as a trend was funny. I worked. But Brit got the credit. :D

1st Glee episode i've deleted as soon as I was done watching it. I usually keep for awhile to listen to the songs again. Total BLEH episode for me.
Did like Britneys paraphrasing here "My teachers said if i skipped classes, my grades would improve"

That's how I felt.
FWIW, Britney's best line was that she thought an anthem was the bottom of an Ant's Pants. (Ant Hem). Cracked me up.

Best Glee Episode Ever.
Now personally I cannot stand Justin Bieber (the person); I think he's an arrogant little twit. But Sam's rendition of "Baby" had me in stitches; it was so freakin' hilarious. He had the Bieber hair, Bieber clothes, and Bieber moves down to a T. (Although, in actuality, Sam's clothes were similar to what Justin wore in the "Lonely Girl" video and not "Baby", but that's nitpicking).
Some great one-liners too: Puck -- "Dude, that haircut makes your mouth look even bigger."

As an aside, we never saw Aural Intensity at last year's regionals, correct? We only heard them on the speakers in the Green Room?
Correct - well, a couple of AI singers were on stage at the awards ceremony.
Then again, except for the soloists, you never "see" any opposing group's singers (well, except for the deaf school choir from Season 1 Sectionals). I understand why they do it for, say, Vocal Adrenaline (it would be incredibly difficult to find people who could perform those dance moves and be able to sing good enough, even if they did the singing separately), but how hard would it be to get the actual Tufts Beelzebubs to be the on-screen Dalton Warblers?
Speaking of Regionals, what are the chances that they ever mention any other choir besides New Directions, the Warblers, and Aural Intensity, which will probably start another round of discussions along the lines of, "Why were there only three choirs at Regionals?" "There were probably more, but those three made it to the finals." "In that case, isn't it incredibly coincidental that they were the only three ever mentioned?" (Also notice that not one person asked, "What about Vocal Adrenaline?" Did their school magically move itself to another part of the country? The obvious answer is, they want VA and ND to compete against each other at Nationals. Speaking of Nationals...)
Sue now coaching Aural Intensity makes the following slightly more feasible:
1. New Directions wins Regionals, with Aural Intensity coming in second;
2. Kurt (and possibly Blaine) transfer back to McKinley;
3. ND goes to Nationals (we already knew the season finale would be in New York, but Ryan Murphy hesitated when asked if ND would be competing);
4. Just as they are about to start, Sue points out to whoever is in charge that Kurt and Blaine are ineligible to sing for ND as the Show Choir Rule Book says that no one can sing for more than one school in any year, and without them, ND does not have the minimum 12 singers any more, so they are disqualified and Aural Intensity should take their place as the Midwest Regional runner-up.
(Alternative to 4: they perform, then Sue has them disqualified - this way, they perform a number they can sing on the tour.)

You sure know a lot for someone who think he's an arrogant twit :)
I enjoyed the episode. I like the funny stuff and find the songs a bonus (and they were pretty solid this week IMHO), it seems many of you put the songs first. Sue's dancing with Glee was great and her moments with cancer patients brought a little dampness to my eyes.

Puck's obsession with the "I Know What Boys Want" gal stretches reality a little for me. Not believable and a little creepy, especially when you add her reaction.

I'm really getting pissed at how utterly mean they are trying to make Sue. Do you really think a teacher could go around slamming kids against lockers and knocking their books out of their hands and not get sued?
Oh, and how is she going to be another high school's coach considering she doesn't even work there?

Probably the same way she talked her way into being one of the judges at a regional show choir competition where one of the competing schools is the school at which she coaches - because she's Gumby Sue Sylvester, dammit!

Sue said she got a part time gig. I take that to mean she was hired by whichever school Aural Intensity is a part of.

When my kids were in high school I seem to remember that some of the coaches didn't teach at the school, but taught at one of the feeder middle schools.
Which brings up the question, what the heck does Sue teach?

I love hearing Quinn (Dianna Agron) talk. She has a very sexy voice. On the other hand, while watching Attack of the Show the other day, I realized, that despite how hot Sara Underwood is, her voice is very annoying/whiny!

I don't think creepy but unrealistic. Let's face it, in high school the popular, good looking boys do not date heavy girls. Nope not gonna buy it would ever happen. And IMO she's not even slightly attractive. That bugs me more than her weight.

Puck has flat out admitted that she "looks .... the way she looks " :o He likes her because she is a bigger bada$$ than he is! :D
But ITA with you-maybe the other girls will give her a makeover, that's what happens in TV-land! ;)

IMHO she'd be a creepy character at any size! Hasn't made friends w/ anyone and is really full of herself for no apparent reason. Can't sing, no personality, and not appealing.
Remember, she was initially brought in as a warm body so they would have enough members in the Glee Club to compete.

Wow, must be nice to be beautiful all the time.
Lauren may be overweight, but she is far from having "no personality". In fact her personality and being "full of herself" is probably a direct result of being criticized and teased while growing up. She brushes off the hurt with jokes.
