Hello all!
Just got my new Tivo Premiere hooked up. I have a question about the channel guide. I don't like how you have to go thru a few steps to get to your favorites guide and I hate having to scroll through 500 million channels to see what's on. I was wondering if it would hurt anything to go thru the channels and uncheck the ones I know I would absolutely never watch. This way my regular channels guide would be reduced quite a bit and easier to scroll through. Would that mess up anything when my guide is updated by Tivo or whoever updates it? I guess I could do it the other way and put all channels as favorites except the ones I would never watch. Then just keep my guide on favorites.

What have all of you experienced Tivo users found to be the easiest?

No issues, I've done this to mine. I eliminated all the non-hd channels and channels I would never watch.

No issues. I always remove all the SD duplicates, Spanish channels, and shopping channels.

Thank you both for answering. That is exactly what I wanted to do. Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't hose something up the first week I have it! hehe :)

Have a good night!

..and "news" channels that don't follow your political leanings.

You want to remove the SD duplicates if you allow suggestions. Otherwise the TiVo generally chooses the SD channel rather than the HD channel for some reason.

Lower channel numbers typically...

Maybe. my S2 used to preferentially record on Ch 11 over Ch 3, though.

Tivo will also tell you when a line-up change has occurred from your cable provider. It will allow you to make quick updates to the guide if you do not want the new channel
