Premier Refurb-Can I Check It Out Without Activating?

Getting refurb and want to make sure it is operating correctly. Can I check out the machine and make sure everything works without activation?
What should I check to make sure it is ok?
What have been the problems with the Premier I should check?

You will have about 7 days to check the system out from the time you first connect, some things will not work like MRV, Netflex, and other things that require you have the TiVo in an account. You can record, set seasons passes, check TV reception, and scan for HD stations in the clear (if you don't yet have a cable card) and watch/record HDTV on any clear HD channel.
You do have 30 days after activation to cancel for any reason, and I think you also have a 90 day warranty on the unit, so you should be quite safe in not getting stuck with a lemon.
