Is there a show on the air that wants to be perceived as realistic but takes more liberties with reality? I can't decide if the writers are just stupid or they think we are. Just a few instances from last night's episode for example:
The CSI's are the first on scene - AGAIN
Without approaching the vehicle they know the woman was shot before crashing into the hydrant
They do not check the driver to see if she is dead or alive, but rather are only concerned with "protecting the crime scene"
Horatio immediately knows where the shut-off valve is for the hydrant (are there such things? I guess so, but I've never seen one) and has the appropriate tool at hand
Later in the show when the suspect is returning the car and the police respond to arrest him, is it the nearest patrol car that is first to arrive. Nope. It's - wait for it - Boa Vista and Wolfe.
I hope I'm not being picky - but these types of abnormalities are in EVERY episode. The CSI's are always first on scene, first to chase a suspect, first to apprehend him or her. They sometimes appear from nowhere. And is there anything Horation can't do or doesn't know? Other than the scientific aspects, the writers don't seem to try to get anything right.
Sorry - just needed to vent a little :)
