Just a heads up.

BBC has just announced that Primeval Season 4 will premiere in the US on BBC America on the same day as its UK premiere on Saturday, Jan 1 at 9PM ET/PT.

If I read the tea-leaves correctly, the first episode will air both in the UK and the US on Saturday, but the second will air in the UK on Sunday and the US the following Saturday, and the US will thereafter be a week behind.

I guess a week behind is better than months behind!

Yes. Dead and buried.

It got better.

I hope this show refocuses itself on showing Abby running around in her panties every other episode like it did in its first season.

5 webisodes you should watch before seeing Primeval season 4

*Possible Spoilers* if you follow the link.

Serving as a bridge between the end of season three and the start of season four, the webisodes reveal that some changes concerning the ARC have been afoot ever since the disappearances of Connor Temple (Andrew-Lee Potts), Abby Maitland (Hannah Spearritt) and team leader Danny Quinn (Jason Flemyng). They also reveal the unseen fate of one other member of the ARC and its subsequent effect on yet another one.

I watched season 1 and 2 but stopped at the start of season 3 when I found out it was canceled and that there wasn't a real ending to the series. So I would like to know what episodes of season 3 are really necessary to watch in order to understand whats going on?

FYI: All 3 seasons of Primeval can be streamed using Netflix.

Sweet! I forgot about this show. Will it be available for an hd download from amazon the day after airing? I would like to avoid watching it in SD since FiOS does not have bbca in hd.

Seriously. In an Internet-connected world, what possible logic is there in such a schedule? (I could as well ask what logic there was to it in the pre-Internet world, for that matter.)

There could be different sets of competing programming in the US and UK that they'd be up against otherwise and want to avoid. Or there are other country specific viewer trends that mean their target demo is more likely to watch on one night vs. another. Perhaps the BBC in one country has more lucrative programs to run that don't exist in another, and they don't want to 'waste' a better programming slot on a show that was already cancelled once?

I think I can wait a week to watch it. And if it's available from Amazon VOD in HD I will be watching it from there anyway like I do with Doctor Who.

Hopefully one day FiOS will get the HD version of BBCA.

I see Amazon does have it available in HD. I should have waited but instead I watched it in SD last night. From now on I will wait for it to be available on Amazon since I know they will have them now. I just wish the Amazon HD TV show prices were a little lower.

Or better, that FiOS would get BBCA-HD.

Fios' SD picture on BBCA is pretty good IMHO, and I can Zoom it since the show is letterboxed. (Oddly the Netflix presentation of Series 3 is 4:3. I remember it as being letterboxed on BBCA.)

Yeah, SD is all I have and the picture looked pretty decent. For SD.

I noticed that you can't (at least as of right now) buy a series pass on Amazon for season 4. Normally they have series passes available at a 10% discount (so $2.84 per episode for the HD) and they can be automatically delivered to a PC (in my case my media center). I hope that's just an oversight. The discount is nice, but the convenience of not having to remember to go download the show every week is really why I do series passes.

Thrilled that they retained Connor and Abby. They are the show for me.

What happened to their pet?

Can't recall how Sarah was killed. Anyone remember?

Has anyone heard if Danny will come back through, too?

Any speculation about the secret agenda with the mystery man and the new head of the team?

There is a thread (http://tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=462010) for the first new episode where discussion like that should probably go.

I just started watching season 1 on netflix. I'm conflicted as to whether or not I think it is good or terrible. There are some terribly written things, like the fact that metal things get sucked into the anomaly, except of course that really it only seems to affect metal objects held up by the characters. Also is the plot just them fighting a different dinosaur every episode for 3 seasons?

Mostly it's that, but they do develop subplots and a main plot arc over the 3 seasons.

No, there's a story behind the stories that gradually emerges. And it's really pretty interesting. But you have to wait a while for the outlines of it to become clear.

That was it? I realized I didn't get a Primeval episode this weekend and saw there were no future episodes scheduled. I looked the show up on wikipedia and saw that there were only seven episodes this series. I didn't think the last episode I saw was the season ender. I know British shows can have very short seasons but this one just flew by.

Didn't think this comment was worth a new thread.

Yeah, they played a little trick by shooting 13 episodes but dividing them into two "seasons." The "fifth season" will air in England starting in May.

I have had no problems on this show. I quit watching Hex, for example, because everyone was mumbling. (I had problems at UK based SF cons, some British people kind of mumble into their chests or something.) All the Americans kept asking this one Aussie to spell things because he was talking about authors and titles of books (things that sometimes need to be precise if you want to follow up on them).

For anyone not aware, Season 5, the one after this season, just finished in the UK this week. It ran on a small channel and will air on the main ITV at some point later.

You mean it's not shut down AGAIN. It was already shut down and gone, then miraculously, resurected from the dead.

I'm enjoying it. I just watched the first two episodes of Season 5. I'm glad I was able to find it in HD otherwise I would not have watched it. For Season 4, I downloaded them from Amazon in HD the day after they aired on BBCA.

Wait, what? The last episode I recall was when...

The tall red-headed new team leader who was lost all season came back through a portal and the season-long bad guy turned out to be his brother.

Was that season 4 or 5? Have I missed an entire new season? I am seeing season 5 episodes 1 - 6 are "available" online.

JohnB1000

That was season 4. Season 5 aired in the UK a few months ago. It was a deal with a minor channel. The minor channel got to show it sooner than the main ITV which will get it later in the year.

I certainly enjoyed it when I watched it Thursday and Friday. I thought the six epiosdes were well worth watching. The effects actually seemed to look a little better in HD too than previously in HD. Still TV effects but better.

I hope this show refocuses itself on showing Abby running around in her panties every other episode like it did in its first season.

I had never seen an episode of this show until recently and caught the first 6 episodes of season 1 using Amazon Prime Instant Video and that was the best part. The show is almost as stupid as Fringe but Abby running around in her panties, for no reason other than to be running around in her panties, may have been stupid but it was really good television.
