View Full Version : Slide Remote with QWERTY keyboard

They say this puppy works on the S3.
If this is true, then there must be a way to feed commands into the
USB port of the S3 to enter text and such, yet a standard USB keyboard will not work on the S3.

So what's the deal?
If you hook up the USB port of the S3 to your computer, how can you feed the QWERTY commands to the S3 from the computer?

I've used a USB keyboard with my S3 (original OLED) and THD boxes with no problem. I believe this support was introduced in one of the recently 11.0x software updates (back when the Slide was introduced).

You can't just connect the USB port on a TiVo directly to a computer ... USB doesn't work that way. You can however, enable the telnet interface and send keyboard commands via a remote app like wmcbrine's tivoremote (https://github.com/wmcbrine/tivoremote).

How do you enable the Telnet interface without hacking into the box?

It's not traditional full-shell telnet access. You enable it under Messages & Settings > Settings > Remote etc. > Network Remote Control.
