View Full Version : The Little TiVo Sounds Have Changed!
On my S1 TiVo the sound effects when you press the remote have changed. The usual pa-do a-do a-do in now more of a ta-doink now. And when you make a mistake, used to be a kettle drum sound, now it sounds like someone kicking a pail. Have we got some software upgrades to this old girl (ten years old) in recent times?

It is more likely that you changed the audio dynamic range control setting on your sound system.

Agree. However, I just recently turned them back on for the full TiVo experience. The only sound I like is the chime when the TiVo button is pressed. :)

They are saying you should just turn them off, and agreeing with each other.
Did you see if DRC is the culprit. I know that when I turn it on on my Pioneer, I get exactly the symptom you describe.

I usually hear this change when my HT system accidentally gets switched to Orchestra mode. Although that makes everything sound weird, including program audio.

This ^^^ because it's not really a sound. It's the word "dumb" and when I did something that didn't work it kept calling me dumb...dumb...dumb. Don't believe me turn'em back on and listen...dumb...dumb...dumb.

Sometimes my TiVo HD forgets to make sounds altogether. A reboot always fixes it. Perhaps that's the solution to this problem.

Is it possible that somehow the volume setting for the sounds has gotten changed?
I think the available choices are Off, Loud, Medium, and Soft. It's buried in the settings menu somewhere.
