Hello, I am cursed with Time Warner and their delightful Cisco tuning adapter. I have 2 tivo units, neither units are a new premiere unit. The first is a HD THX box, not sure the model, it was purchased in 2008. It has 2 single stream cards with a Cisco tuning adapter, this unit works fine. The second is a box that is almost 1 year old and has not worked properly since the multistream card and cisco box were installed. Here is what I have done to troubleshoot my issue which is the tuning adapter doesn't work right.
If I have the no card or tuning adapter connected I get basic channels. If I add the cable card I get many more channels but no "pay" channels. Now when I connect my tuning adapter I lose all channels but HD ones. Nothing else comes in. The minute I disconnect the tuning adapter I get my channels back. I have tried 2 different tuning adapters and both USB ports on the tivo box. Any suggestions? Time Warner is coming Thursday to swap the cable card but I don't think that is the issue.

Suggest that you call the Time Warner national cable card support desk for assistance with your tuning adapter. The number is listed elsewhere on this forum and can be found using search. They are very tivo savvy, and will either get you up and running or will schedule a tech with specific instructions concerning the problem. Before you call, I suggest that you do a tuning adapter reboot. First, disconnect the usb cord from the tuning adapter to tivo. You should get a "tuning adapter missing" message from tivo. Then unplug the power to the tuning adapter. Plug the tuning adapter power back in, and wait until the light stops blinking. Then plug the usb cord back into the tuning adapter. You should get a "tuning adapter found" message from tivo. Go ahead and do the "check the cable card" procedure on tivo, making sure that you try one or more switched video channels, for example espn-u is probably a switched channel, while espn is probably not one. If that does not fix the problem, call cable card support, and let them know that you have already done the tuning adapter reboot.

ps. I have learned that tivo will sometimes "drop" the tuning adapter during an update if you are also using a wireless connection through the other tivo usb port. The above tuning adapter reboot sequence will reconnect it to tivo, but will not stop the problem from happening again.

The tech worked his magic and did something with an entry on our card.?? That and I moved the line going to the TV to a different splitter and all is well.

Now which was the card or the splitter. :D You might need to get new splitters or /and line.

Whatever he did to the card gave us most of our pay channles, moving it to the other splitter solved my switched channel issue. I was running the unit off a second mini amp splitter. When I moved it to the the main splitter is when I started getting the rest of the channels. The way my runs look it goes from outside line to splitter, that splitter has a leg that goes to a mini amplified splitter. The tv was on that splitter, once I moved it up, all was better.
