For the majority of the universe that hasn't heard about this--it's airing on Hub, which is quickly becoming my favorite channel. They are also doing a new GI Joe series that looks pretty good.

The 5 part premiere miniseries "officially" starts next week, but they ran the first two episodes this afternoon. And I'm shocked that the writers of the Transformers movies are producing a series that is actually more adult (and more enjoyable) than those movies. Having Peter Cullen and Frank Welker back is great, and Jeffrey Combs is a surprising choice for a very different envisioning of Rachet.

There seems to be a little bit of relation to the storyline of the Transformers: War for Cybertron game (which had an A+ storyline, but so-so gameplay), but not as much as I expected. I'm hoping that the remaining episodes expound on the backstory a little more, as they just jumped right into things so far.

Same for me on Comcast, as far as I can tell. It was SD on DirecTV as well.

I have it set to record, will watch it when I get home. I wish we had cartoons like this when I was a kid so now I watch cartoons as a senior citizen. :)

I wish I could get the new Avengers show but I never even had heard of Disney XD or whatever it is called until the new show was advertised. (My line up is missing the channel so I hope Netflix has it soon.)

Avengers is hit and miss, but for the most part it's enjoyable.

I saw a commercial for this today and the animation looked like it was from a video game. Does the show look like that?

It's CG animation, so yeah, it looks like a really well done video game. The line between game and cartoon (or even live action) is getting thinner each day.

My kid really likes the show, no HD here either. Yeah the CG is pretty simplistic, when the characters talk they don't even come close to making the mouth movements close to what they are saying, their mouths just move up and down at a constant rate for as long as they are talking...

I tried watching it and found it not to my taste, I thought the animation was just horrendous.

I have watched the first episode and it was OK.

After watching all of the episodes, I have found myself underwhelmed. I had read that this was going to be based on the Transformers: War for Cybertron game storyline, but there was almost no similarity. In fact, it seemed more related to the universe of the Bay movies (although still better).

The last 10 minutes seemed to be little more than "We'll cram as many of Prime and Megatron's famous lines in as we possibly can", which I found kind of annoying. I get geeked by hearing Peter Cullen say "One shall stand, one shall fall" as much as the next nerd, but it's like they had a checklist or something.

I'll probably record the series when it starts next year, but if they don't introduce more backstory, I'm not going to stay terribly interested.

Hub runs the original cartoon as well. You need to make sure you search for Transformers Prime. I'm betting they'll run it quite a few more times.

Yes.

It's owned by Hasbro.
