Hi,
My parents currently have a Tivo Series 2 (single tuner, I believe? is there such a thing?) along with a Comcast DVR. They are thinking of switching to a Premiere (not sure if regular or XL). For now, they'd just use it with the SD menus until everything is optimal with the software.
My question is this: is there a way to control the old Tivo and the new Tivo independently of each other? They would want both up and running. They use a Harmony 880 remote.
Thanks.

I control several TiVos with my Harmony remotes. There are several remote codes to choose from to give the TiVo so it doesn't interfere with each. In one room I currently have six TiVos in it. Each one has a different remote code.

Sorry if this is obvious - can you point me to a site with directions on how to set the remote codes for the units and/or the remote?
Again - I apologize if this is obvious and I just don't know it yet!
Thank you.

I don't know if the Premiere remotes have it, but the S3 remotes have a 1-2 toggle switch to control two different tivos. That's what i have in my living room.

The Premiere remotes do not have a DVR 1/2 switch like the previous models. You can still set the Premiere to a unique address, and the remote to that address. You can also use one of the older remotes to control a Premiere.

Here is the page from Tivo Support on configuring two remotes.

Thanks.Everyone else has told you about setting up the 2 Tivo to work with one TiVo remote using the 1-2 switch. After you do that then you can setup the 880 remote but you have to use the TiVo remote you setup to control the 2 TiVos separately with the 1-2 switch to manually setup the 880 remote you can not just use built in Tivo codes.
Good Luck

You used to be able to have the Harmony CSR set the TiVo code for you. This is what I did years ago and have just transferred the programming to each new Harmony remote.
