Has anyone seen anything that says how long the upgrade pricing will be available for the premiere?
I am thinking about upgrading, but would prefer to see how things work out over the next few months. But the upgrade with lifetime price of $199 is awful good, and I would hate to miss it if the offer expires before I leap.

Short answer....no one knows.
My guess is that the upgrade will stay in place for a long long time. TiVo wants to convert as many people over to the new platform as they can.

Looking at the page it looks like the upgrade program is here to stay based off the wording. This of course doesnt mean the offer wont change though.

Once everyone upgrades based on the current offer they will lower the price. :)

I'm hoping they at least give us a heads up. I'm thinking I want to take advantage of the offer but I'm a smidge cash short at the moment (thanks IRS....)

Another reason why I need to get my existing units sold quick. So I can pay the IRS. But I would rather pay them than give them an interest free loan every year.

Tivo's online chat help told me that there is no official date for when the upgrade offer will expire.
Take that for what its worth.

That is good news. I want to wait and hear how folks think it is performing after a month or so of use before I make a purchase. I can think of a lot of ways to spend $550 bucks, but buying something that will potentially appear to my wife to be no better than our existing Series 3 is probably not a good idea. ;)
Another factor is that, at least in my case, getting a Premiere would be adding a second TiVo to my household. However, I don't have the necessary infrastructure in place at my house for the two TiVos to do MRV very easily. It will take me some time and money before that is in place, and I don't see getting the Premiere before then.
So I hope TiVo will give us some advanced warning if they decide to discontinue the upgrade offer (and I hope they get their Wireless-N adaptor out soon so I can consider it).
