Anyone running a household of series 3's and series 4's? When trying to browse my series 3 from my new series 4 and vice versa, it displays displays a message saying there are no recordings on the dvr when there are actually multiple.
Anyone else seeing this?

I'm seeing this as well. If i recall correctly from the last time i added a TiVo to the family here it can take a day for all of the TiVo's to get into sync and see the shows.

Yeah it usually takes around 24 hours for TiVo to pickup that all boxes are on the same network.

Gotcha. I also noticed that the premier hasn't picked up it's name from tivo.com. In the system information it says "<Name this DVR on www.tivo.com>", even though it's already named and I've forced a couple updates since. Probably take some time too.

Yeah.. give it a day for the TiVo Systems to grind. They have some back end process that make multi-tivo household features take a little while to setup.
Once they are there, you'll be golden.

Isn't this related to the VCM connection (beyond the control of forced connections to the TiVo Service)? Does the last VCM connection show 12/31?

Yes, it does say 12/31 on the last VCM Attempt. The next scheduled is in about 6 minutes. We'll see what happens.

VCM updated successfully but the Premiere is still unnamed and MRV is still a no go.
I don't think MRV is available until the Tivo is activated with service - if you are in the 7 day trial period, I thought MRV was inactive. Am I mis-remembering something?

I did activate it. The status of the account says in good standing.

Hmm... Were you hopping on one foot as it was making it's VCM connection? I heard that's helped in the past... :)
Really though, I thought once VCM updated you'd be golden.

It probably still requires someone to flip the switch at TiVo and with them probably not working today I would expect it to happen on Monday. Then again when I added my third HD it took a couple days before it picked up it had been activated.

Just got home from work and it's working. Still the same transfer speed going from series 3 to series 4 but I haven't tried going from 4 to 3. My 2nd series 4 is coming from Amazon tomorrow, from what I've read it should be a big improvement on speed.

Honestly between a series 3 and 4 I don't know if you will see a difference since the series 3 will still be limited by the chip. To see a difference download KMTTG (http://code.google.com/p/kmttg/), and transfer a show from both TiVos to your PC.
