Did anyone ever find out info about using the Premiere remote with multiple TiVos?

Hopefully Bkdtv can answer this. I will have only one in each room this time, but I would definitely like to know.

It's not promising that there's no reference to setting the remote address in the Premiere's Viewer Guide and the DVR 1/2 switch is gone from the remote.
(The procedure was described in the TiVo HD's Viewer Guide)

But Bkdtv should be able to tell us if there's still an entry for remote address in the system information screen.

He just responded in the FAQ that he never heard one way or another. This doesn't look good though.

Why does it matter? Did you order more than 1 premiere???

JUST KIDDING! I'm sure it really pained you to not mention that you have 8 on order in this post, so I'm here to let everybody know for you.

"Hey guys, he ordered 8."

That is a question I forgot to ask last week.

The older remotes are compatible and I've confirmed they can change the remote address. The obvious problem is that older remotes lack the colored buttons.

I don't see a reason why you couldn't use a Harmony remote with different activities set for different TiVo addresses.

The obvious problem is that older remotes lack the colored buttons ...Out of curiosity, how important are the new colored buttons? Are you required to use them, or do they simply offer a quicker way to accomplish certain actions that would otherwise take extra button pushes?

They are 'fast path' buttons. If you look at some of the screen shots of the HD UI in action, some menu options appear at the top preceded by the colored buttons. You can still get to whatever menu is indicated by a button. The colored buttons just get you there faster.

As I understand it he ordered 14 and canceled 6. Though I'm sure he might get a little ticked off if we go around just telling people he canceled 6 of his TiVo Premiere orders. :)

if i did not use a harmony remote i would be annoyed at the lack of a 1-2 switch, however it seems that if you program the remote address like normal (there is no remote address 0 listed, just be on the account info screen and once you set it to 1 or 2 it will appear), you can swap the premiere remote between 1 and 2 using the cover ir area, hold pause+tivo, wait for solid, and press # key approach... much less convenient then a switch...

The old remotes have no problems controlling two premieres - I just tried it.

I have my old remote setup(using 1-2 switch) running TivoHD and a PremiereXL. No issues (yet). I wanted to use the Glo-remote on the Premiere(90% usage) and the old for the THD(10%). BUT, apparently the Glo remote cannot have 2 functions on the Power switch. I cannot turn ON/OFF my TV and Yamaha receiver by pressing the power button, as I do with the old remote. Bummer.:(
