View Full Version : WOW Cable in Illinois (Naperville) cablecards and such
I've got WOW in Naperville (IL), had them for years (since they first came to the area) and been very happy with the service. The time has finally come to get a new set, jump into HD, and I ordered a Premiere.
How has WOW been with Cablecards around here? I searched but only get posts from a year or so ago. From their website it looks like cards are 3.50/month so that's not too bad for an M-card.
It doesn't appear to have a charge for HD service from the website, not sure if that's correct. There's of course a charge for the HDPak if I went that way.
Anyhow, looking for any cost/service/cablecard info on WOW from users in the area. Thanks!

I'd recommend checking the AVS forum. There's probably a thread dedicated to WOW in your area.
There's a general WOW cable card thread somewhere in the Series 3 forum, but it's been pretty quiet for the last year. The most recent experiences all seem pretty good.
I have CC on WOW in Columbus with no problems. No SDV or CCI byte problems to worry about here <knock on wood>.

I am in Naperville with WOW service. I recently moved from a Series 3 to the Tivo HD, series 3 died out. I had 2 standard cable cards with them for the last 3 yrs, The Tivo HD, I am only using one M card and I ordered a Premiere which will have the same. The service in my area has been great, no problems at all. Picture quality and service is very good. As for the cost of the card I am not sure, to tell you the truth I never asked when I moved to one card so not sure if I'm paying $7 or $3.50. You can PM me if you need to ask any other questions.. Mike
Thanks, I may PM you, but I think I've found all I need. I appreciate the offer.

OT: I had WOW when I lived in Naperville and they were awesome...
They still are awesome. Just today in fact I called to get everything set up for the (hopefully) imminent arrival of my Premiere this week.
Added an M-card to my existing account, added HD service, kept all my old equipment since I'll move the S2 and cable box to a different tv, upgraded my internet service.... and now I pay $25 less than I was paying. And I would call every other year or so and fight rate increases and they'd give in, so I wasn't being gouged previously.
Plus we scheduled the truck roll for Friday evening between 6-7 (yes, a 1-hour window in an evening, no need to take time off work, on Good Friday no less)
No charge for the truck roll (she waived it since self-install is not an option).
WOW around here rocks. Like I said, I've had them since they first came on the scene. They were the first to offer Broadband here in 2002ish.

I have had WOW for almost 3 years - they are awesome. I've had a Tivo HD with a CC for about a year and a half - no issues at all. Enjoy it!
