I own a Tivo HD that is coming off subscription next week. I am very happy with it and don't really see the need to upgrade to Premiere. The extra hard drive space would be nice (I was contemplating upgrading mine before the announcement), but is not critical. The reason I wouldn't want to upgrade is my cable company WOW! had a difficult time installing the CableCards the first time and none of the M cards worked. I really don't want to go through that again especially if I can't get an M card since my two S cards work perfectly and WOW! doesn't use SDV.
Option 1: Sign up for lifetime for $299 for Tivo HD using a code I bought off Ebay. This would take about 2 years to become beneficial compared to $13/month. I am leaning this way.
Option 2: Sign up for lifetime for $299 for Tivo HD. Purchase Premier for $300 and lifetime for $200 assuming I am eligible. Sell Tivo HD to recoup hopefully $450. Total out of pocket would be $350 assuming I get what I want for the old one.
Option 3: Anymore suggestions.
