So, I am buying a Premiere with lifetime, unlike everyone else, I am in love with the new boxes (I think). All I really wanted improved was MORE MORE speed, and this box seems to give it.
One of my S2 boxes is getting sunset, Premiere will go in my living room, the only question at hand, is do I keep my S3 in the bedroom (second most usage) or the TivoHD? I am guessing the S3, cause the threads from 2008 still say it slightly outperforms the TivoHD for MRV, etc?
Thanks,

Well, the S3 would require 2 cable cards where as the THD would only require 1 if you had a M-Card, so there will be a small cost difference.
Assuming it's only a couple bucks a month, I'd probably keep the S3 for the nice front display and the faster MRV. If you've got one of those providers that charges you $6-7/month per cable card then I'd keep the THD, wait the extra minute or two for MRV, and just buy a digital clock.

For some of us, the cost difference is more than other markets. Here in Nashville, cablecards are $7 a piece. My first one in free but I'm paying $21 a month for three cable cards right now for two Tivo S3s. Going to a Premiere (or Tivo HD) would reduce my monthly charge to $7. A $14 a month difference adds up over time. Over two years, that's $336 which would pay for the cost of a new Premiere (but not the Lifetime).

If TiVo is smart, they will eventually have features that only work between TiVo Premiere boxes, such as synchronization of family favorites, season pass management, etc.
If TiVo doesn't do this then there is little reason for many S3/HD box users to upgrade.
