Looks like screenshots sent to engadget had not one, but two mocked up features.

Wow.

I had told friends that according to the press release, I didn't think the TiVo did comcast on demand, and then the screenshots seemingly showed it did, so I retracted my statement, now I had to reaffirm it.

Yeah - I saw that too. You gotta think they have some proofers doing some fact-checking before publication...

What changed with the retraction? The retraction itself means absolutely nothing - it was guaranteed since whatever will happen with Comcast is unannounced, and has to come from Comcast. TiVo goofed, but that doesn't mean anything one way or another as far as what's coming.

Now the linking with friends retraction - that probably means something.

It will have VOD for RCN Cable so that's all I'm concerned with.

Look at this image, the XL comes with 3D glasses?No, those are included as part of the THX Optimizer feature, which is exclusive to the XL. I assume it means that there are built-in test patterns which you can use to properly calibrate your TV.
