I have a next generation remote extender that I use from my bedroom to control the tivo downstairs. It worked flawlessly for 1.5 years but now has developed a sluggish symtom where each key press only has about 25% chance of working. So I have to repeat each key several times, with a second or two of resting time in-between. And yes I charged and changed all the batteries. Pointing the remote directly at tivo works, but hiding it out of sight and using the extender doesn't quite work. Any idea what's wrong? There is no support forum or contact on next gen's web site.

Is there an alternative to the next gen extender? I'm looking for radio wave solution, not wired one. And I prefer a product with support web forum. I also prefer a two-piece receiver and transmitter design instead of the battery transmitter like next gen's.

Do an internet search for "IR extender". There are many brands to choose from. I use the NG Remote Control, and have been for well over a year. It works great!

As far as troubleshooting the NGRC, can you try it in another remote? Is your "peanut" working properly on it's own?

Good luck.
