Past Life Pilot 02/09/10

I caught this after AI. I watched the whole thing, which means for me it will get at least another few airings. Except for Toby from West Wing, I didn't know the other leads from anything else, so that's a plus for me as well. I hate when they reuse the same 10-20 stock actors for every show.

It looks like Its normal timeslot will be 9pm on Thursdays, and it only runs till mid March.

I watched it but I didn't set a season pass for it. It was pretty good for a pilot and mid-season fill-in but since I have no confidence in its longevity, I'm not going to invest in it.

If you can watch an episode of Ghost Whisperer or Medium, you can watch this. It's closer to Medium in that the young boy in the pilot was channeling the ghost of a young girl who'd been murdered. The Past Life team used his visions to clue in on the killer.

Fresh faces are nice, but the premise is quite thin. I was rolling my eyes after 10 minutes and gave up at the 30 minute mark. Seems as stale as "the forgotten" and ultimately a waste of time.

I thnk Fox only ordered seven episodes. I think it'll make it that long. It's filler until they bring back Fringe this spring.

If you can watch an episode of Ghost Whisperer or Medium, you can watch this.That seals it for me then. Not going to bother with this as I cannot stand either of those shows.

I read that the Superbowl had great ratings which went on to the Undercover Boss show. I also read that Idol with Ellen had great ratings which led into the next show, Past Life and then they dropped off at the 30 minute mark.

Because I'm the type of person who, if I like a show (i.e. find it entertaining), is disappointed or pissed when a show doesn't last or gets canceled or not picked up. When I say invest, I mean emotionally invest in it.

Certainly other people can watch single episodes and not care.

Yep it was Ghost Whisperer meets Cold Case. Don't see this one lasting the season.This was my feeling as well. Although I like the cast, the material is horribly weak. I have no opinion on its longevity, as that is a poor reason to decide whether or not to watch a show. If it's good, it's good. This wasn't.

Certainly other people can watch single episodes and not care.All righty then. I sympathise with your emotions, but since you have no way of knowing what's going to succeed or not, how can you choose to watch anything at all? Do you wait for it to end and then decide to watch the DVDs?

Medium is a good show because of the family. This episode didn't have anything like that going for it. The premise is old, but that might not matter if the series offers something else. This didn't.
