how big of a hardrive Would a tivo hd require for 100 hours?

A 1 gig drive will give you about 145 hrs of hi-def recording. You can pick up a plug and play drive for about $125 on ebay from any of the reputable dealers WITH a standard 3 year warranty on the drive itself. Takes all of about 20 minutes to do the swap itself and you're on your way to 145 hrs of space!

Is it as simple as plugging it in or must other streps be done?

It's very simple. Open up the Tivo. Remove the old drive and put it away. Put in the new drive. Close up the Tivo. Run setup, just as if your Tivo was brand new and that's it. Took me 15 mins, not including running the setup after installation.

Literally, it's plug and play. Note that you WILL loose whatever you have recorded on your existing drive.

But this way is much smler than having your old stuff transferred.

It's simple IF you get a preconfigured drive - check out weaknees.com or dvrupgrade.com. I also hear that you can find them on ebay or craigslist, but buyer beware.

DO not think that you can just wander in to best buy, buy a disk drive, and simply plug it in. There's more to it than that.
