Hello,

Due to job loss, I need to drop my DirecTV service. My TiVo series 2 DirecTiVo is owned, not leased, so I should be able to keep it without DirecTV asking for it back. But can anyone tell me for sure that once I disconnect the sat antenna feed and drop service I'll continue to be able to get the existing recordings off of the DVR indefinitely? I still have some things on there that I want to copy onto DVDs as I get the chance.

I just want to make sure that there isn't some kind of "I haven't heard from 'home base' for 'N' days, therefore I'll stop functioning completely" mechanism in the unit.

Here's the non-user-specific info from my TiVo's "System Information" screen:

Manufacturer Brand: RCA
Platform: Series2
IRD Model: DVR80
Software Version: 6.4a-01-2-121

Thanks for any info!

Bryan

Yes, you'll still be able to view the recordings after you disconnect service.

Some posters in other threads recommend you disconnect your connections before you cancel.
