Womble just released version 5 of their MPEG Video Wizard DVD product. The upgrade costs $30, new purchase is $99, so the price has increased quite a bit. The changes seem fairly minor relative to version 4:

On a related note, a new version of VideoReDo is also coming sometime soon. I think the changes in that product will be more significant, including the addition of h.264 video editing. You can read more about it here:

I do hope it is coming...but it has been "coming" for over a year now. At least they appear to be in beta, just not sure how long that will go on for.

Note that at least initially the new VRD only will support H.264+AC3 in mpeg2 transport stream container which doesn't help if native TiVo playback is your target (requires mp4 container).

Are you sure about this? See this post from the VRD forums (http://www.videoredo.net/msgBoard/showpost.php?p=57799&postcount=67). That post is talking about editing but it would seem bizarre to be able to create H264 encodings but not in the mp4 container.

That post is talking about editing but it would seem bizarre to be able to create H264 encodings but not in the mp4 container. mp4 container with H.264 & AAC audio will be supported, but not AC3 audio. AC3 in mp4 container is a relatively new addition to the spec and there aren't many editors/players that support AC3 in mp4 yet. But as you probably know 6 channel AAC audio does not output in true surround format from TiVo, so AC3 is much more useful for preserving true surround sound.

Thanks, I should have known that....

Good to clarify it for other readers anyway. :)
