I have two Comcast HD boxes with Tivo on them. Last month the remotes started exhibiting weird problems. Basically they act as if you hit the same button twice instead of once. Especially the guide and sometime the select button. Anyone else having this problem? (example..hit guide it comes up..then goes away back to what you were watching with the info box up)

This is very similar to a known issue with stand alone S2 boxes that happened a few years back and was caused by a newer version of the Tivo software. I wonder if that but has surfaced in the Comcast Tivo code stream.

For the record the 2 boxes are the moto 34xx boxes as the 64xx boxes did not work well. they are much more sensitive to the Tivo software.

I have the exact same problem, but it's been happening for a long time. Several months. Our box is the DCT3416 I. I'm reasonably sure it's a remote problem because when it gets really bad, I'll press a button, then quickly cover the remote's IR blaster as to prevent a second signal from being sent to the box.

Nice to know some one else is having the problem. We've done nothing to correct it because our experience with Comcast TiVo is so terrible, it's honestly not worth the effort to correct. We're saving our pennies till we can buy a TiVo-built box and can go the twin cablecard route.

It shouldn't be this hard. These boxes should be this awful.

I had the same problems on both my DCH 3416s. So I exchanged them both for DCX3400s. These new machines have 315GB hard drives!! HOWEVER, they have the same remote problems as you had. SInce 2 new model machines have the same problems, I suspect we have a software issue. When I called Comcast and spoke with the Tivo group, they said they never heard of this problem. Have you spoken with them yet?

Thanks guys. Apologies for my extremely delayed reply. I haven't reported to comcast because frankly..they'll likely screw something up again. I definitely think its software and I think they pushed an update again without telling anyone (big surprise). I would love to have an updated DVR. I went through the DCH34xx boxes with no luck and had to revert back to the DCT's to get Tivo to work at all at my house. the DCX's sound awesome. I am going to research those a bit. I will likely call it in to comcast at some point. my best bet will be to get the name of the tech that was here last. pretty much the only guy that had a clue in the metrowest boston area.
