Kenneth's "I guess it's just backwards day" is enough to warrant a thread for this week's show. I was crying.

Actually, the only part I liked was the translation of Liz's book into Japanese. Written by Lesbian Tart Fruit

I laughed at Backwards Day.

I also liked that the Japanese version of "Dealbreaker" was written by Lesbian Sour Yellow Fruit.

You know, I just now got that. That's funny.

I LOVE 30 Rock. It's the show I most look forward to each week.

FYI, the new guy was played by Cheyenne Jackson, a local NYC musical theater guy (I saw him in Xanadu).

I wonder it was also him in the robot guy makeup last week.

He's currently starring in the new revival of Finian's Rainbow.

I had to watch the clip of "Danny's" Canadian football movie several times, because I was laughing so hard.

For that matter, some of the ticker items seen on the clips of "Sports Shouting" were pretty funny, but I can't remember them at this point.

Yeah, that sounded a lot like something Robin would say on How I Met Your Mother. :)

Ted Williams signed a 100 year contract extension.

Some basketball team was not allowed to play.. Some other funny ones too but can't remember them.

So, is the new cast member here to stay, does anyone know? Jenna and Tracy might be aided by some new blood.

If you've ever watched Around The Horn then the Sports Shouting is much funnier.

Agreed. I watched that clip several times over and the one with Tracy in it was just as hilarious.

He's here for at least 3 episodes. Can't find it now but read the other day him saying something about thinking Alec was a comedic genius and how they had just finished their third episode.

"Should we switch shirts or just stand in different places"

"To be safe, we'd better do both"

That had me laughing out loud.

And then later to see them both with "The Problem" on their shirts, it was hilarious.

Thanks!!! I wanted to pause it and see for myself, but the combination of an SD TV, basic recording and an eye that's going very bad, I couldn't see any of them but the Royals one (which made me laugh a lot.)

I think that's still my favorite, but the others are funny, too.

Maybe if it were on Fox, but not on NBC. Besides having a history of giving sitcoms time to grow, "30 Rock" is one of the few shows that NBC can toot its horn about, since it's critically acclaimed and Emmy-winning and all that.

Why do you say that? It just won a boatload of Emmy's, and is really very successful. Unless Tina Fey or Alec Baldwin croak, 30 Rock is here to stay for, I'd say, quite a while!

If they haven't canceled Leno yet, 30 Rock is here to stay. :)

I think maybe Whitson has the same feelings I do about this season so far. It's just been flat. Too much focus on Tracy and Jenna and not enough on some of the other characters, especially Kenneth. Frankly, I think the show would be greatly improved if it got rid of the Tracy and Jenna characters altogether.

I totally agree about canning Tracy and Jenna, but the show is still very strong with or without them.

This.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30_Rock_(season_4)

Season 4 is the about to become the worst rated season so far. I thought we were past that after season 3 was the most watched, but this season's ratings are not good.

I'm not saying this to be a Debbie Downer, but I love the show and when I went to check out the rating I got concerned. If it isn't a top 100 watched show, I don't care how many awards it gets. They will cancel it.

I wouldn't count on that. Check out TVbytheNumbers.com (http://tvbythenumbers.com/category/renewcancel-nbc-shows), where it's their business to determine things like this. They are currently listing 30 Rock as the second safest scripted show on NBC, behind only The Office.

Well, Emmys don't pay the rent. :)

How are the ratings?

Magnolia88

If NBC canceled all of its shows that aren't ratings powerhouses, the only show left would be . . . uh . . . . I don't know, football, maybe?

30 Rock has never been a ratings powerhouse, but it's reasonably successful compared to the rest of what NBC has right now. It does okay with younger people iirc. I haven't read much to indicate it's in danger of cancellation. Tina Fey is about as big a star as they have right now.
