So I wonder why we didn't get to see a clip of where Shay is currently?
Also, Daniel's old partner cracked me up. "I'm just relaxing right now"... he looks like he's been doing a LOT of relaxing!

Im really surprised they sent Shay home. Amanda was the smart pick but I like her so Im glad they didnt.. that could come back to haunt them later.
I also thought it was interesting they didnt show Shay. Either she didnt do anything remarkable after leaving the house or they're going to do it next week. This is my first season watching this show. If people go home and gain a bunch of weight, do they still do a followup on them?

Did they show Daniel's current weight? They showed a lot of him as soon as he came home, but I don't remember seeing his "now" weight. (granted, I was falling asleep at the end of the show).

They said he had lost a total of 215 pounds.
Big thumbs down to Rudy!! What a dick.

I didn't start watching this until Season 5, but I can think of 3 cases where the people went home and didn't do well.
Paul from Season 5 went home and did basically nothing... they profiled him and he was in the hospital with pneumonia or something, but then he did not show up for the finale, and I think people speculated he probably gained weight (which wasn't really surprising to me after seeing him on the show).
Then there was David (the big friend from Dan's followup last night) and Aubrey from last season. I think David is bigger now than he was on the show, although he had managed to maintain a little weight loss for the finale. Aubrey didn't do well when she went home for a few weeks, but I think she ended up turning it around by the finale, and they actually made a point to highlight how poorly she was doing when she first got home in her followup.
So it's not always sunshine and roses in the followup, which is why I'm really surprised there wasn't one at all on Shay. She either did REALLY poorly, or she did so spectacularly that they want to make it a surprise.

I think they should have more Red line eliminations. I liked the do or die aspect of it.

Actually, I take that back after going to look at the Wikipedia page. :) Aubrey weighed in at 195 on her second to last weigh in, and 191 at her weigh in the week she was eliminated (week 12, 6 weeks before the end of the show and who knows how many weeks before the finale). Then she weighed in at 194 at the finale. I think someone has said it's like 2 months between the end of the show and the finale, plus the 6 weeks, so all she managed to do was gain 3 lbs in 3.5 months.
I do remember that she had a video camera that she was doing progress updates to in her followup though, and I think that she may have gained even more weight than that, and then managed to take some of it back off for the finale.

Me too. I tell my wife every season that it should simply be the person with the lowest % each week. I really hate the drama that goes on when they are voting.
Shay and Daniel were on Leno last night but I was out before they were on.
I think my wife recorded it....... I will have to check.
I was also glad Amanda stayed. I like her and Rebecca but they can both get pretty whiney at times. Sometimes I wonder if the contestants have even seen a previous season. Jillian always yells. Its what she does. If you don't like don't sign up for the show.

No doubt.. Rudy was one of my favorites till last night. Same with Liz.. I liked Liz until she started her scheming.
At this point Id like to see Amanda or Rebecca win it all but I think Rebecca is mentally weak in comparison to Amanda.
Amanda had an off weak but I think she will step it up from here on out. She dodged a huge bullet last night. If Rudy had been playing the game instead of carrying out a vendetta, Amanda would have been gone.
Shay's update is on NBC's website. She's done pretty well since going home. Maybe they're gonna show it next week.
Given the people eliminated, Amanda and Rebecca both have targets on their backs. If they get in a position to get eliminated, theyre gone.

NBC.com has the Shay clip, and it's longer than usual, like 5 minutes.

Also, Daniel's old partner cracked me up. "I'm just relaxing right now"... he looks like he's been doing a LOT of relaxing!
Daniel's former partner was totally representative of the attitudes Americans have as a whole. I'm too busy. I'm doing other things right now, it's too stressful for me. I'm not UNHEALTHY, once that happens, I'm there. Sadly, many peoples' definition of unhealthy is lying in a bed, dying, or unable to walk.

That always makes me curious as well. The people express how much they love watching the show, yet seem surprised that Jillian (or Bob for that matter) is hard on them. Did you LIE when you said you watch the show?

FWIW, Shay and Daniel were on Leno. She's lost 150 lbs total so far. Dan has lost 230. Dan is transformed, Shay is well on the way.

Daniel actually lives close to me and Im a member of the gym he's shown working out in. I'm surprised Ive never seen him there as I go 4 or 5 days a week.

I think if FF"ed through more of this ep than ever before. I hate reality TV so I can only deal with so much repetition, montages, and dramitic "reaction" cuts after every line... "You have a challenge?... DUN DUN DUN... "The challenge is..." DUN DUN DUN... cut to commercial...
I didn't see the ad for Leno until it was too late, hopefully there is a clip somewhere online. I'm glad Shay is gone because I don't know if I could bare one more "Shay needs to be here" or "I'm thinking of myself for the first time in my life" scene. Man was that getting annoying.
I think if he doesn't fall below, Rudy will be the winner. Alliance or not, I'd be very surprised if he fell below and the other "older people" did't vote him off out of some sense of loyalty because he's clearly the biggest threat, and he seems to get stronger every week (althogh Danny is stepping it up).
I was actually shocked that Shay lost w/ a 17lb drop. once she went I figured she was definitely safe for sure ebcause there's no way everyone will compare to that. But they did. How people can lose 17 lbs in one week is beyond me.

I just dont see how the big guys are going to be able to compete once their loss starts to slow down and Rudy has been under 10#s for 2 weeks in a row. That doesnt give them a great deal of weight loss percentage. That puts him and Danny at a serious disadvantage. I mean, Liz lost what, 12#s and she was at the top of the list, Shay lost 17#s and was next to last.

Me and my wife belonged to the same gym and went 4-5 days a week and never once saw each other there. She went before work, I went after.

Well.. that may be true but you live in a booming metropolis compared to where we live. Our gym hours here are shorter than anywhere Ive ever lived and the choices for gyms close to us is pretty much the one they've shown him at and that's it. There isnt another gym within 25 miles.
I go during the day a lot. Maybe he's an evening working out kind of person. Figuring he's spending 2-3 hours a day in there, you'd think sooner or later you'd stumble across him.

Nice that those six trainers stepped up and wanted to help her. She certainly still needs a lot of help, but it's nice to see that she's well on her way.

My point is if he always goes at the same time and you do to, your paths will never. Why not ask the people that works there if he really works out there.

That red line certainly made for an exciting weigh-in and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see it rear it's ugly head again. Those were some great numbers last night! Hard to believe Shay could lose 17 lbs. and still get booted off! I expected the group to keep her around since they all seemed to want to help her, but I can't say I'll miss all the crying and victim stuff. Glad to hear she's doing well though. Her husband sure didn't look like he was going to give her much support. Wasn't he eating copious amounts junk food right in front of her last week?
I didn't think Rudy broke his word. He said if he and Shay were IN the final two that They would vote for each other. That's all as far as I remember. He never said he'd make sure she WAS in the final two. I thought Shay misunderstood the agreement but perhaps I am. We over here at Chez Barnay, didn't think he did anything wrong. Except maybe a little slacking after he got immunity. 8 lbs. isn't anywhere near what he usually loses. Can't say I blame him, I'd do the same thing. Save my energy and poundage for when I don't have immunity.

Yeah, not to mention the party food on the table when they showed her getting home. I saw a tray of cupcakes front and center. :)

This is a hard thing to deal with for me as well. Lots of people I hang out with still eat and drink the same way as before I lost the weight. I try to hang out with them a bit less than before and try to budget for the food/drink. In Ali's book she talks about having to get away from some of her friends as it was just too destructive. I think that's true for Daniel. He needs to run from his season 7 partner or that guy will take him down.

Yeah... the cupcake thing just made me laugh because... it's a welcome home party for someone coming back from a weight loss show. :) Maybe hold off on the cupcakes for someone else's party. ;)

The worst one was when Dina went out with her family and they ate giant platters of food in front of her. Talk about sabotage.

But see that seemed staged to me because they had very convenient camera angles of the food, then of her husband eating the food, then her reaction to him eating the food, then her staring at him with the two of them and the food in the same shot... These angles are very deliberate. I find it hard to believe that the producers were like "Dina's husband, wait to eat that giant plate of food so we can get your wife's disgust as she watches you eat it on film"

I know exactly how you feel. I have gotten to the point it does not really bother me any more. The worst was work they had treats for any occasion they could come up with. They would not eat all the treats and I would be tempted by left over cake, pizza or other bad food all night long. It made for some very hard nights walking by all that food all night long. Now I can ignore the bad stuff the 5 days a week I work with no problem thanks to brining my own food. I just keep it reasonable on the weekends and I can maintain my weight.
