Wow, that was a BBOS.
Basically an ad for two movies with some cheesy schtick thrown in. I'm not sure what I was expecting but that wasn't it. And I'm sure the Windows pull out may have affected this on some level but...this was a waste of 30 minutes.
Did I not see some of the other voice talent in an ad for this show right before it? I know I saw Adam West for a brief second in a "preview" snip.

I enjoyed it. The Marlee Matlin bit was hilarious.

Seth is so full of himself. This was a big waste of time.

It could have been a lot better. I've heard the album where they perform in front of a live audience and seen some of the videos on youtube.
I suspect that the Network made them tone it down from what they usually do.

I enjoyed it. The Marlee Matlin bit was hilarious.
The only problems I had with the Marlee Matlin joke were, (a) they had used it on Family Guy already, and (b) it reminded me of a problem I had with the joke the first time I saw it - since she's deaf, how did she hear the instructions over the phone?
Also, I wonder if it was just "one of those things" that Seth Green had nothing to do with the show (in the opening FG gag, Peter, Brian, Stewie, Lois, and Meg all had lines, but Chris didn't - ironically, in one of the two FG episodes, Chris had lines but Meg didn't).

Wow, glad it wasn't amazing as I didn't see it until too late to record. I think Seth Mc is cute and I love Alex B so I was afraid I missed something really awesome.
That said, hope they re-air it :D

I love FG and never miss it. That being said, go stick your head in a toilet and flush repeatedly for 30 minutes, it'll be more pleasurable than this was.

Abysmally unfunny. There was a point about midway through where I found myself wondering if this was actually an elaborate joke by Seth McFarlane on Fox -- along the lines of "They're pushing me to do a special, so I'm going to give them something utterly unwatchable and laugh to myself as they try to promote it."
And yeah, I saw Adam West in the promos, too. Obviously, the "live" show in front of the audience was much longer, and Fox edited it down to the best 22 minutes -- and then threw those away and picked up the worst crap on the cutting room floor and went with that.

I didn't think it was *hilarious*, but I thought it was amusing, even if much of it was predictable.
But what I wanted to ask about was -- how do shows like this that have no LOCAL ads work? It only had 2 ads, movie trailers, that were national ads, work? Does the network PAY the local stations to make up for the few minutes of local airtime they usually get?
This kind of thing happens every once in a while (e.g. "commercial free" Letterman a few years ago which really had a bunch of live spots during the show).
Even though it was "product placement", I thought it was kind of funny how they semi-slammed Sherlock Holmes.

Man...This was pretty lame. I was expecting a lot more 'Family Guy' stuff. Is this going to be a semi-regular show?

Based on the reviews here, I'd say it's unlikely.

Thanks for the link, Scott. I rather enjoyed it. Is it classic tv? Not even, but it was kind of fun. They both can sing, no doubt about that. I love watching them do the voices. It makes me giggle. So I'm a freak.

It did have local ads -- it ended at about 8:58, so there were 2 minutes of local ads after that.
How quickly we forget: that's how every half-hour TV show used to be formatted, before the networks decided to start running one show "seamlessly" into the next. The ads during the actual show would all be national ads, and then after the closing credits, there would be a "station break," which would be the local ads.

Really? In the past, the host would often even say something along the lines of "now we break for commercials from your local station", as opposed to the national commercials.
(Even NPR stations do that -- at least they have the breaks on the Car Talk podcasts I listen to.. I realize that's separate from what commercial TV does, but it's similar.)

They still do that on some broadcasts where they don't necessarily know the exact commercial break times in advance, although not always with those exact words. One case is on the "Today" show -- if the anchor tosses to a break by specifically saying the words, "This is 'Today' on NBC," that's a cue for a local commercial break.

And with CBS they would give us a 10 sec promo (as well as inform us what show the promo is for) prior to the manual/live switch.

I thought the show seemed like one big self-congratulatory exercise by Seth. He just wanted a forum to sing and tell jokes and get paid for it. Sure, some of them were funny, but they didn't seem fresh and the live aspect didn't really add anything to it. And IIRC, Seth got some kind of huge $100 million contract with Fox, so this probably fulfilled some clause in that contract.

Two funniest parts... the "only a rapist can hear this" joke and the Renee Zellweger part. Otherwise, pretty uneven.
