Somehow I got last seasons finale recorded instead of the first Season II episode. I did catch a bit of the new episode as the city folk pulled down a statue of their old and ruthless leader. Then the camera focused on the head...

The previews looked great. Any see the new Season II episode?

For some reason, they felt it necessary to present the first season finale and second season premiere as a combined two hour presentation. My program guide actually did have it correctly scheduled as a two-hour. (Even if it didn't I didn't have anything to worry about... since this is syndicated, I always start recording 5 minutes early and pad the end by a full hour).

I missed it but it looks like they're going to re-air just the first episode on Saturday so I'll catch it then.

I was just looking at the upcoming episodes in the guide and it shows the second episode airing at midnight on sunday and episode 1 re-airing in the normal 8pm slot on sunday?

Don't know. It's on different networks depending on which part of the country you're in. For me it airs Saturday afternoon on WGN but for you it's probably on a different network. You can find out the correct listings for your area here. (http://www.dadt.com/lots/)

That's the problem with syndication.

I caught the two hours presentation on WGN on DirecTV.
Too bad it was in SD.

The episode was good but Charisma Carpenter just can't play a bad person. Maybe she'll get better as the series progresses. I kinda expected the bad Cordelia to show up. The other bad part is her costume. :)

I'm sure the book lovers are tearing their hair out over this episode.

Well, I liked the books (the first three anyway), but this episode did not bother me. Clearly the show is diverging a lot from the books, but that is fine, as long as the show's writers keep track of their own continuity now.

It is interesting what the writers decide to change and what to keep. Panis Rahl a good guy, heh. Mord Sith can tell if there is a Lord Rahl by whether their agiel's work, but there does not seem to be any bond for the soldiers. The screeling does not see you if you hold still (instead of walking to avoid it), but they still killed it by freezing it.

I did think the writers missed a good chance with the screeling. It would have been more impressive a monster if people could hack bits off it, and the screeling would just regrow a hand or even pick up the severed part and stick it back. I would have loved to see Richard cut off the head, and the screeling leap to the side, grab the head, and jam it back on! Also, they should have kept the creepy laughing, that would have been cool.

I thought this episode was quite good. Very unpredictable. It is amassing how much is left over when a ruthless magic wielding dictator is defeated.

Those with TiVo had quite a revealing view of that woman in the bath house.

I am watching the 2 hr. presentation on WGN on my Dish DVR and it is all in HD. Don't know why yours was any different. Too much makeup on Bridget.

The thing is, although I haven't read the books, I accidentally spoiled myself earlier this year
about Richard's parentage. According to Wikipedia, Darken Rahl was Richard's father, not his brother. And I think the jury is still out on whether or not Panis is a good guy. He just simply may not have been as evil as Darken.

Nope.

It's not on any network.

It was sold to individual TV stations across the country, no matter what network they may be affiliated with. This is called "syndication".

A network is a nation-wide programming source that local channels draw a feed from.

Syndicated shows are actually being run from the studios of your local station, with the recording being played back on their own equipment. It's not a live feed from a network. The different stations show it on their own in timeslots they choose.

Why in the world would a TiVo owner have a better view than others would have? We get the same channels everyone else does.

Do you mean "by hitting pause"?

I assume the last Mord Sith wants to hang out with Richard because she only keeps her powers if he's alive.

Panis really shouldn't have been surprised how a kid named "Darken" turned out. :D
