Tivo Desktop and Win 7

Upgraded to Win 7 yesterday from Vista and had issues with dvr finding the shared files.

I tried to upgrade to Tivo Desktop 2.8. I got an error message on the 2.7 uninstall. I then ran the Tivo Desktop Cleaner but it gets hung up on the Zapping Installation step. Now when I try to install 2.8, a window flashes but then nothing.

Any ideas? After talking with support, I think the quickest solution may be to either reinstall Win 7 or revert back to Vista.

Try using Task Manager to kill any processes with TiVo in the name, then rename the TiVo directory under the Program Files directory to something else. Reboot the PC and try the Cleaner again.

That solved my problem! Renaming the tivo folder in program files was the key. I previously tried stopping all process but didnt work.
