info incorrect for recorded show, recording wrong show

I have a season pass and it recorded what it said was the show but was actually a different show. This has happened a few times and I am now missing episodes of new shows due to this problem. It records on the right channel at the time the show says it's supposed to be on, but a different show is recorded. Can anyone give a suggestion on how to fix this problem?

Is your Tivo using a cable/satellite/digital OTA converter box that it controls with an IR emitter?
If so, the problem is most likely that it simply isn't changing the channel correctly on the box. The IR emitter may nee to be aligned better or there could be IR interference causing the signal to be misread.

If it records the right channel at the right time but the wrong show, it could be that the guide data is incorrect. Sometimes this is out of the control of the guide data provider - for example, Sunday nights on CBS are notorious for running late due to football games ruinning late. This happens too late for the guide data to be corrected.

Was the correct show actually shown? We've had that happen, where the network showed something different (e.g., a baseball or football game) and it got recorded even though the title is the show we wanted.

The same thing the other day-- we brought up a Frasier episode and it turned out to be a Friends! Right channel, right time, wrong show!
