Are there any programs beside Kmttg and vedeoredo that will cut ads from TiVo programs? I can not get Kmttg to work at all or vedeoredo does not work very good.

Manual edits with an mpeg editor such as VideoRedo are the only 100% foolproof way. With kmttg you can use "comcut" or "VideoRedo AdScan" for commercial detection and you can have kmttg automatically bring up VideoRedo GUI to allow you to manually review & correct the detected commercials before proceeding to the commercial cutting task.
I know you are probably looking for a completely automated & accurate method but AFAIK none of the commercial detection programs are 100% accurate for all video sources. There are tweaks that can be made in comskip to make it work better for certain video sources but will take a lot of trial and error and may only work for a particular category of source videos.
So using what is available and then manually correcting them is the only foolproof way to go.
Personally, I skip commercial detection completely and just do the cuts manually since I can do them very quickly and accurately. I find it much quicker and easier to just do it that way than to wait for commercial detection to do its thing and then have to correct the mistakes it made.

I can not use Kmttg because of this happens.
comcut failed_(exit code-1073741819)-check command c:\kmttg_vop7b\memcoder\memcoder.exe"k:\test\coldcase-hoodrats(10-04-2009) mpg-edl k:\test\coldcase-hoodrats(10-04-2009)_oac
copy _ovc-mpeg-vfhard dup-ok:\test\coldcase-hoodrats(10-04-2009)cut.mpg
(does this about 14 times then this)
1 dupicate frames
warning fps changed 23.976->29.970. (5.994005) [4]
skipped frame
warning fps changed 23.976->29.970. (5.994005) [4]
skipped frame
(does this about 5 times then back to this)
warning fps changed 23.976->29.970. (5.994005) [4]
It keeps repeating over and over. What could be wrong with this.
I started a thread but no one could help with it.
I know you can manually cut the ads but how can you do it fast?
I sometimes have 6 hrs of programming a night. I don't want to be in front of a computer for 3 to 4 hrs.

Did you do what I suggested previously?
Enter the VideoRedo folder on kmttg's "Programs" tab. On the kmttg's "Program Options" tab, check only "Enable VideoRedo QS Fix video dimension filter." Leave the other two options blank unless you want to manually review the detected commercials before the file is finalized.
In kmttg, download a program with these settings: Decrypt, VRD QS Fix, Ad Detect, Ad Cut.
If you have VideoRedo TVSuite, also be sure to grab the latest version (3.5.1.583) here (http://www.videoredo.net/msgBoard/showthread.php?t=6961).

Yes especially if you have VideoRedo you must configure kmttg to use it. Once you do that then you can use the VRD QS Fix task and when it comes time to make the cuts it will use VRD instead of "comcut" (which is actually mencoder doing the cuts).
Then problems you posted above will go away once you use VRD QS Fix and VRD to do the cuts.
As far as manual commercial editing it takes me about 4 minutes per 1 hour of video to make the cuts manually using VRD GUI and then a few minutes to save it to disk. I would not want to do that for 6 hours of video per night however...

I'll try what bkdtv suggested again. If that don't work I'll try the your way. My reflexes is not fast.:)

I'll try what bkdtv suggested again. If that don't work I'll try the your way. My reflexes is not fast.:) What bkdtv suggested is exactly right and should work. If you don't have a recent version of VRD installed then you may have to leave the "Enable VideoRedo QS Fix video dimension filter" option turned off. If you still have problems post any error messages you are getting and we can help out.

I did what bkdtv suggested. It worked but with one show it cut the first 81/2 min of the show but on another it did a pretty job.
Thanks for the help.

I started to do it your way. I wish that they had a 10 sec forward or backward. I might need to to get a track ball to use.

I started to do it your way. I wish that they had a 10 sec forward or backward. I might need to to get a track ball to use. If doing edits manually here's a couple of suggestions:
1. Make sure Thumbnails are turned off (turn them off under View menu)
2. Tools->Options->Navigation
Change the period of time that left/right arrows jump. I use 0.5 seconds but you can go larger or smaller if you want. You can also edit what shift,ctrl arrows do but I don't bother.
3. When editing, grab the slider marker (sitting initially over the all green time bar) to move quickly through the video. Once you get close to cut point then use the arrows to find the precise cut point.
4. If you actually play the video to find cut points use the space bar to pause/resume play.
i.e. I use all mouse for quickly scrolling through to find commercials, then use all keyboard shortcuts to find the precise cut point. After some practice you can do things very quickly.
NOTE: VRD actually is pretty slow at scrolling through video, especially HD video. If you really want a faster editor for HD editing then Womble Mpeg Video Wizard has the fastest video scrolling I've ever experienced. Learning curve on that tool is much higher however which is the downside.

When I edit, I ignore the slider bar(*). I have my navigation buttons set at 120s, 30s, and 15s with my mouse wheel set at 10s.
Combine that with thumbnails, I can find and cut the commercials in two programs in the time it would take Ad Dectective to do one scan.
If you edit enough shows from a particular network, you get to know their commercial break patterns. This helps a alot.
(*) I used to use the slider bar with the SD programs off of my S2, but now that I have an TivoHD, the slider bar is no longer smooth. I thought it was just my computing power so I adapted.

How to manually cut a scene or commercial from a movie file:
Using Cut Mode.
1. Load in a movie file, either through File, Open, or drag and drop the file from the Windows Explorer.
2. The file should be able to play properly, if not, go to Tools, QuickStream Fix and choose a new file name.
3. Repeat Step 1 to load the new file if you used QuickStream Fix, Skip step 2.
4. Use keys to move to where to begin your cutting:
PgUp moves -30 secs,
PgDn +30 secs.
Arrow Up, back 1 frame
Arrow Down, forward 1 frame
Arrow Left, back in how many secs you set in Options
Arrow Right, forward of secs Set.
5. Press F3 to mark Start of cut.
6. Repeat Step 4 to move to where to end the cut.
7. Press F4 to mark End of cut.
8. Press Delete to cut. (section of timebar turns red)
9. Repeat above until all desired sections are cut. (Although the cut sections are still on the video, they will be removed later)
10. Press Ctrl-S to save to a new file. (This will be your new edited video file without the cuts ie: commercials)
Under Scene Mode, you will be using INS to insert cuts INTO the new video file. In this case, you will be marking the start and end of the video you WANT, not remove.
