Hello,
I have a partially uploaded video file on my TiVo that I cannot delete. I uploaded the file using Tivo Desktop and the transfer must have been interrupted. The file is now sitting in the Now Playing list with the blue dot next to it. When I try to delete it, I don't get an error, but it's still sitting in the Now Playing List.

I tried rebooting the Tivo, PC, and wireless access point to no avail. I called Tivo Support and spent an hour on the phone going through all of the reboots again, and upgrading to Tivo Desktop 2.7, but the file is still sitting there. I've been able to upload other files successfully since this happened. I even tried re-uploading this same file and it worked, but it just created another copy of the file.

Oh and just about the same time, Podcaster stopped working.

This is a Series 2.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can delete this file?

The obvious question is does it have a stop transfer option but Tivo support should have already addressed that.

If you can't delete the file from Windows Explorer, the real underlying problem is probably that TiVo Desktop still has the file opened. Until the file gets closed, you won't be able to delete it from anywhere.

Force a complete shut down of TiVo Desktop (as supposed to having it go to sleep in the system tray) and then try deleting it.

Thanks for your posts.

I did try "stopping the transfer", but that didn't give an error and didn't do anything.

Also, this file exists on the TiVo itself. I can delete it off the PC with no problem.

Does it show up under the To Do List? If so, you might be able to cancel the transfer from there.

It doesn't appear in the To Do list anymore

When you rebooted the Tivo, did you do a hard reboot (pull the plug)?

If not, try it.

Yeah, weird. If it's not in the To Do List, a reboot should definitely clear out the blue "transferring" icon and let you delete the partial recording.

Try disabling the network by unplugging the wired or wireless connection and then reboot the TiVo. When it comes back up without any network connection you should be able to delete the file.
