I have a hughes HDVR2 Series 2, directv with tivo, I would like to make a duplicate hard drive that is larger of course. There is nothing wrong with what i have, just want to expand. I have a pc with media center and it would be great to link the two via wireless, but I think my unit will not work with the tivo wireless usb thingy they sell. Any suggestions with instructions would b a godsend. thank u in advance

Putting a larger drive in and copying over your old one is pretty simple if you use WinMFS, which can be downloaded from http://www.mfslive.org/ As long as your PC has IDE ports or you can get some SATA/IDE or USB/IDE adapters to hook up both drives to a PC, it is a piece of cake. Only slightly more complicated is the MFSLive Boot CD, which runs a specialized version of Linux and requires you to type in a few commands at the prompt.

As far as using a wireless adapter to network, that requires more work, as you would need to hack the Tivo to enable the USB ports. If you look in the section here called "Tivo Underground", you will find all the information you could want about a program called "Zipper" which you can use to hack the Tivo.
