Will pyTivo work on S2 without a subscription?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I just thought I'd make sure it won't. I'd be mad if it did and it just turned out I screwed up the pyTivo setup. Just trying to use an old S2 as a very basic HDD media player.

Nope, without a sub, the S2 will have all networking features turned off.
