View Full Version : Using DVRupgrade to get a replacement drive for my s2 and need advice
My s2 was rebooting sporadically for a while and more recently it would just hang at the start screen, after a reboot it would be fine so I didn't care much (it's a spare one for the extra tuner). A few weeks ago I didn't see the tivo listed in the now playing list on my main tivo so I check it out and there is a green screen that tells me about some serious issue and it will run a check for the next three hours, it's been like that since. Sooooo here's where I am, I'm on DVRupgrade selected my replacement size (189 Hour Replacement Drive Kit) and it gives me the option of two hard drive types; Western Digital (AV) or Seagate (D835).
Any preference? Is one a little better than the other? Quieter? Longer life?

Obviously interested to hear what others have to say about this but it has been our experience that you are not going to notice any difference between these two drives. If one lasts longer than the other, it will be more out of luck than anything else.
We have been shipping Seagate DB35 drives longer than the Western Digital AV drives, but to date, both have been very reliable. We've had a fair number of each pass through our hands...

Guess this section of the forum doesn't see much action haha
thanks for your response, I'll probably go with Seagate and put the order in tomorrow. How long does it usually take to process and ship?
