I'm at a loss! I have had 6 different TiVos over the past 10 years and I have never not been able to program the 30 sec jump. I have 2 new out of the box HD TiVo units and they will not accept the "Select>Play>Select>3>0>Select". By accept I mean I do not get (3 bings) "BING,BING, Bing" and thus it won't work.

Now before you tell me how to do it let me tell you - I know how to program it! Well that is unless there is some new twist.

Here's how I do it:
Go play a recording from the Now Playing List.
While it is playing I press the following sequence:
Select>Play>Select>3>0>Select
You will hear three bings if it is successful.

You then can press the advance key (->|) to skip ahead 30 seconds.
The only way to watch football! :)

Anyone who has a HD Recorder had this problem?
Anyone been able to solve it? TiVo Tecs are adamant that nothing has changed and it will work - (even though they can't talk about it).;)

I may have to go back to Moxi or Direct TV HR21 PVR and I love TIVO too much for that.

Help! :(

I do not use 30 sec skip myself so can not give advice on the how to do it part or why on your units you are having problems - but it does work on Tivo HD and with the latest update. So something off is happening - keep trying and looking. Hopefully someone can come along with the practical bit of info you need for this case.

Never had a problem on my Series 3...

Although you won't hear any bings if you're watching an HD / Digital show...

It also can help to press the CLEAR key before the sequence. In fact, I can do it during Live TV by doing so since the CLEAR key cancels the channel change it's kinda putting in (I press CLEAR both before and after the sequence)

Know that the 30 second skip now survives a reboot -- but it's a still a toggle in that if it's enabled and you key it in, it will be disabled

Adman 1115,

So you say you don't get the Bings with a HD recording, and you are sure the jump works afterwards? I guess I better go back and check to be sure it didn't work. I did test it in the beginning but after a while I was only looking for the Bings. maybe I should record a non-HD and then try it.
Thanks for your information.

Bob,

I'll try the clear option you suggest. Thanks!

Yes, it works fine.

There are no sound effects at all on HD or digital shows.
