Hi All,
Well... Im gathering up my upgrade parts to increase capacity on my Series2 (TDC540080/140). I already purchase a WD 500GB which will be a nice step up from the 80 thats in there right now. I ordered a download from DVRUpgrades of InstantCake. Then a spare fan. I started to think that while im in there... Might as well just throw a second 500GB in and go for a nice big system. Then I thought again..... Would the SATA-IDE/ATAPI converter work on this system? Then i could just buy a WD 1TB SATA

OK so heres my question... What software is right for me? (Yes it would be nice to keep my season passes and the thumbs up and down.)

LBA48 Boot CD with enhancments
Universal Boot CD Ver 11
InstantCake (I already downloaded)

So, do I need one of these all of these or what?
Do they get used in a certain order?

I have read some of the install Docs on them. But unsure about what direction I should be going here.

Thanks,
Wedge

Check out http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=416883 in the Upgrade forum for SATA adapter recommendations.

AFAIK you shouldn't need anything but InstantCake.

InstantCake is all you need. It comes with the right version of MFSTools that will work with your specific model and is essentially the same as the LBA48 boot CD. The universal boot CD just covers a wider variety of models, IIRC.

Thanks.
SO.... Ive been having a bit of trouble finding what WD 1TB Hard drive (as in the actual model#) I saw in one forum they were saying to stay away from WD10EACS and the WD10EADS due to booting problems.
There were suggestions for WD10EVDS (it has a 32MB Cache) and the WD10EVVS (has a 8MB Cache) I see that there are new numbers out now for the drives WD10EVDS in a 32MB Cache.
SO can someone enlighten me?
