I have two first run season passes for discovery channels shows - Mythbusters and Time Warp. These are old season passes - they have been on my TiVo for 2+ years. Recently I have noticed a strange behavior: both of them are recording every airing of the new episodes.
For Mythbusters, the new shows started last week. The Tivo recorded the first airing of "Knock your sock off" as it should have, but it also recorded the midnight showing and the repeat episode that was on yesterday. Last night it recorded the new "Duct Tape" episode as it should have, but it also tried to record the midnight episode, and, when I looked, I found next wednesday's repeat on the TD list too.
Now I noticed the same thing happening for Time Warp - last night it recorded the original airing of the new episode, but it also recorded the repeat episode 3 hours later.
This only occurs on these two season passes, and it never happened with them before. Is anybody else seeing anything like this?

Are you sure that the other episodes wern't Tivo suggestions?

I have suggestions turned off - the first thing I do with any nw tivo. Also, they were in the TD list with a double check mark like they were from a season pass.
I think it must be bad guide data.

My S3 TiVo had the exact same problem with recording Mythbusters. Last night it recorded "Knock your sock off" and then the “Duct tape” episode. It then also recorded the 11 PM showing of the “Duct tape” episode for the second time. I just thought the problems were caused by bad guide data.

Check the original air dates on the episodes. The "knock your socks off" one is October 24, 2009. The TiVo software frequently will treat programs with future original air dates as new even if they've already been recorded. The problem pops up time to time. There's a few more airings off the socks episode between now and Oct 24th which will probably get scheduled.
I'm not sure why "Duct Tape Hour" recorded twice though since it's O.A.D. is listed as Oct 14, 2009.

Same here - the last two weeks, the Mythbusters season pass, set on First Run Only, has been getting both the repeat AND the new episode. Plus, this week, it grabbed both the 9:00 and the 11:00 p.m. ET broadcasts of the new episode, completely ignoring the 28 day rule.

Yeah - that's what I don't understand - it's ignoring the 28 day rule. I can see where it thinks this is a new airing, but the same title was recently (or in some cases still is) in the NPL so the 28 day rule should kick in

Is the original air date set in the future? Look at the episode info details screen to find out. The episode title and description isn't used to determine whether it should record or not.
