View Full Version : Tivo Series 2 with SD Directv Receiver

I have a Series 2 Tivo and a SD Directv receiver. When the channels show up onscreen on the Tivo, I get 2 channels for each channel, one for SD and one for HD, even though I don't receive HD. For example for ESPN I get 206 ESPN and 206 ESPN HD. So, when I flip the channel, it goes to 206 HD again and then to 207 ESPN News. Also, the Directv receiver doesn't list two ESPN channels, just one.

I've tried setting up the Tivo settings to not receive the second 206 HD but it still shows up, even though it's marked not to receive.

Any idea so that my Tivo just shows the SD channels I receive?

To clarify, you have a tivo wired into the Directv SD box? Are you still using the old, non-hd satellite from directv? If so, why dont you have a DirecTivo, like from hughes, so you only have to use a stand alone tivo.

Both your DirecTv receiver and Tivo should be set up so that only sd channels are shown in both program guides. With the tivo, go into channels and check the sd version and make sure the hd version is unchecked. Same with your directv receiver.

I have 3 DirecTiVos acting as doorstops - 2 upgraded. PM's are a nice invention - not that I'm trying to sell anything ... :rolleyes:
