Will there be any more Software updates for Series 2's (240)?

unknown to us - But my money would be on not many more significant updates.
If they had more content integrators sign on like Hulu then I would imagine an update to include them but that is all I really see that would give TiVo some return on the investment of resources to update the series 2.
I have a lifetime 240 model still in service and it has been reliable and rock solid for SD analog cable - but it is not on my main TV and I have since moved on to the series 3 which provides dual tuner, better access to digital content, easy OTA and all that in HD to boot. I would recommend that anyone upgrade to a TiVo HD that is asking this question of series 2 updates.

Personally I think TiVo signaled that the S2 was moribund when they didn't add folder play or folder delete to it after providing that upgrade for the S3 platform. Since those features were not precluded by the S2 technology, it was clear leaving them out was a business decision.

They also don't support seeing Now Playing and To Do List for S2s, on tivo.com.

They also left out the ability to see the TiVo Guide while watching a previously recorded program without dropping you back to live tv. I love that functionality on my Series 3 and wish I had it on my Series 2.

I'm wondering if the Series 2 will get one final update. The Series 3's jumped from version 9.X to 11.X. What ever happened to version 10? Is it a place holder for one final update for the Series 2 platform?

I don't think Tivo will add anything new to the Series-2 v9.x code when they would like to sell you a Tivo-HD. They seem to provide functionality updates like DTA compatibility needed for cable systems going to full digital.

I don't see the Series 2 having much of a life left so I doubt it will get another update. Analog OTA is dead and analog cable is dying in many areas which renders the DT a single tuner device. I wouldn't be surprised if by this time next year the Series 2 won't even be available for purchase.

Well for us Canadians I hope there are updates, since they are the only units that work for cable/satellite here.

If there were an imminent software update, we'd know about it by now. Then again, we are due for one, even on the HD models only.
