What USB->SATA interfaces have people used successfully for an S3 upgrade or dd_rescue?

I have a failing S3 drive that I am trying to recover. It still works, but we get occasional glitches, and clicking noise, so it's time is coming.

I want to swap it out while I still can keep all of my content. So I tried to use dd_rescue to duplicate it onto a new drive. I had both the old and new drives connected in Thermaltake BlacX USB SATA docking stations, and the dd_rescue failed with some kind of out of memory error.

I am guessing that it's the docking station, but can't be 100% sure. My comp has no SATA interface, and empty PCI slots, so I really need a USB solution.

Thanks for any help.

I have used a Vantec CB-ISATAU2 adapter on 2.5", 3.5" & 5.25" IDE/SATA drives. It's fantastic, and works fine with MFSLive and WinMFS.
