Just got done watching - and agree 100%, one of my favorite shows on right now.
I had to squirm a bit when the jail fight ended the way it did, though i thought it might end a different (and equally disturbing way).
How long before Gemma's secret is revealed? I have a feeling she'll end up killing the main rapist before too long, then tell Clay.
Thought the scene with Unser and Hale was top notch, I think Hale finally gets it.
Such a great show!

This show is a Powder Keg!
I'm waiting for SAMCRO to go off on The League. Bobby was the man on this episode. Love the relationship between him and Clay.

I think sending his daughter to kidnap Gemma is the biggest mistake Smooth Nazi ever made. She'll be his downfall.

Agreed.
While I know they couldn't trust the job to just anyone, that was a huge mistake. Perhaps if she flew into town just to do that one job it would have been fine. But to have her still in the town?
SAMCRO will eventually put 2 and 2 together and eventually get 4 and then kidnap her. Top Whitey obviously has a soft spot for his daughter and will cave.

And for her to be smirking at Gemma like that. I think Papa's downfall is going to be not knowing what a complete bloody idiot she is.

I'm a little confused on the relationships in the White Power group. Sobel/Arkin is the head dirtbag. Henry Rollins is his loyal minion and apparently has at least one kid, probably two. Is loyal minion married to dirtbag's daughter?
I toyed with the notion that the SOA might react in kind to Gemma's experience, but ... that would really screw with their ideal of keeping 'civilians' out of things. (Donna was not the intended victim, though that's another can of worms, huh?)
And I'm guessing that there will be another vote VERY soon!

It's interesting the way history seems to be repeating itself...it looks like whatever it was that Teller wanted to do to reform SAMCRO, resulting in Clay (and Gemma?) killing him, is the same thing that Jax is doing now.

Great line. That vote was so very tense. Really loved the line Clay had to Gemma after the meeting about Jax. "I just want him to love me." Really showed another side to Clay. This tension between him and Jax is tearing him up in more ways than one.
The scene with Clay inside the head Whitey's store was great, too. I wonder if they get protection money from other store owners or if he's just doing this to push Whitey's buttons. IMO, it doesn't sound right for them to collect money from everyone. They are well-loved in the town and that would just make them look like bullies.
It's so frustrating to know what Gemma has been through yet SAMCRO have no idea. Can you imagine how high the flames would rise if the word got out? I can see why Gemma is keeping quiet now. I didn't get it at first but all hell would break loose if she said anything.
Man I love this show. So glad I caught up with it this summer so I could enjoy the new season live. It's one of only 2 shows that we watch on the same night these days. LOST is the other.

Clay, Gemma, and several others have stated that John was hit by a semi and dragged a long distance and survived three days before dying. Many of us viewers suspect that Clay and Gemma were responsible, but there's no proof ... so far!
I have felt VERY sorry for Clay this season - He looks like a lost soul. Gemma's behavior has hurt him deeply, and the whole conflict with Jax is tearing him apart.

I don't think he is dead. I mean, look at him and I think he should be dead. There is tons of cerebral blood pooling around his head. I think the writers wiimped out and left the possibility of him being alive. I'm looking forward to their weasal explanation. I've seen an injury like this in real life. He's gone. In real life. Tv life, OTOH, I think he should stay as he is an interesting character.

i think the police chief is the wild card here. he has loyalty to sam crow seems to have paternal feelings to gemma and is on borrowed time. if he goes in for revenge its a win win for the club the town and the deputy

I agree, I don't think he's dead. If they were going to kill him so quickly, they would have just left him in the van when it blew.

Have to agree that in RL, Chib would probably be dead, but gods only know about tv. Any kind of a head wound bleeds heavily, but I would expect a fractured skull to be involved too. Then again, Tara was right there, so fast care could be used as an excuse for many things ...
I'm not sure whether I"d call the Chief's feelings for Gemma paternal. They were kids together, and I thought he was fondly remembering his first love (whether she returned it or not is another story). I've seen that same look on some of my friends when they recall beloved friends from times past. Either way, he's declared himself Gemma's Knight and is doing everything he can. Will he go further? As in go ballistic on Whitey's arse? I don't know. He's also been very clear on wanting to leave his wife and kids well-set ... Still, I can see him taking a hit for Gemma when it's time for one of those spur of the moment decisions.
Gods, even the simplest of these characters have more layers than an onion!

Linnemir

Gemma's age is actually mentioned in Season 1 - I'm not sure, but she's either 50 or 54. I think he was talking about first meeting her when she was 12 in ep 2 or 3 this season.
Interesting though - whenever he talks about her, it's about Gemma Teller, not Gemma Morrow.

In season 1, he had cancer and 3-6 months let to live (or was it in office?).

In season 1, he had cancer and 3-6 months let to live (or was it in office?).
He still has the cancer. He was planning on retiring, but I don't think he was automatically going to die from the cancer, just that it was a serious problem which made him want to retire and concentrate on his health and his family. But when Deputy Do-Right started prematurely cracking down on SAMCRO in anticipation of having the sheriff's job, they pressured the sheriff into staying on longer than planned in order to keep the town in friendly hands.
His health seems to have improved somewhat, but he's clearly still not in very good shape.

so...the van appeared to be Zobel's daughters. We saw her with the hood up looking at it. Did she plant the bomb, or was she trying to figure out why the van wouldn't start? Could be a twist...

Yup.
Whitey wants Gemma to crack and tell SAMCRO who planted the bomb. She knows, and now whitey is hurting the gang, not just her.
It's a pretty good plan by Whitey, assuming they want war.

It's gonna get really good, but I do hope they draw it out all season.
I'm really not quite sure what Head Whitey is thinking. He knows (doesn't he?) that they will kill him. Just like that. They've done it before, they'll do it again.
Perhaps he doesn't care that much, or somehow thinks he's safe. But Clay could have even killed him in his shop and gotten away with it, probably.

It makes this show so much sweeter knowing that SAMCRO is smarter than this guy thinks. He has driven gangs out of other towns so he thinks this is just another stop. Can't wait to see him get what's coming to him. :D

Whitey is a rich dude usually insulated by lawyers and hired thugs. He doesn't seem to realize what SAMCRO will do to him, personally. Heck, the nicest person affiliated with SAMCRO shot a federal agent. Admittedly in self defense, until she and her lover disposed of the body and covered it up, but still. And he saw them (via DVD) blow up an entire meth house.
Seriously, what is whitey smoking besides his cigars?

I hope they don't go anywhere with the Doc Tara losing her job storyline. Her and Jax relationship is getting a bit boring and throwing the whole "job vs MC" thing into the mix won't help.

Yeah, Smooth Nazi came along at exactly the wrong time, when SAMCRO's internal problems are making them look a lot less of a force to be reckoned with than they really are.
I suspect the Nazis' abuse of Gemma, when it's revealed, will be the thing that pulls not only SAMCRO, but the entire town, together for a nice apocalyptic finish to Smmoth Nazi's CHarming little enterprise.

Do the locals in Charming like SamCRO? I think so but wonder if the extort all the local businesses or if they were just being jerks to the whitey cigar shop.
Otherwise I woudl think the locals would hate them.

That's what I was wondering. My thought has always been that the town loves them because they keep drugs out of the town and keep it a relatively peaceful place. Nobody messes with Charming because nobody wants to mess with SAMCRO.
When Clay tried to extort money from the cigar shop I thought that was a little strange but assumed he was just harrassing the guy. Has there been any mention of "protection money" from other businesses?

Actually, that might spice the Jax/Tara thing up a mite, forcing her to choose between the job and the MC. Could Tara be happy as a private practice doc, handling all SAMCRO's 'accidents' and little else?? I doubt it.
Unfortunately, the actress really doesn't grab me, so it's hard to be objective.

While this comment refers to Chibbs, I find it true of most of the SAMCRO men. They all seem to either mumble while hardly opening their mouths, or talk very fast, which also garbles things. I have to hear some of Clay's remarks at least three times before I figure them out. A little more enunciation, pronunciation, and volume would be nice! Oddly, I have no problem with the women, Sobel, or the cops, so it's not just the lower pitch of the male voices ...

Now if Southland could manage to get picked up by FX and molded into a FX quality cop drama.........
