when press guide button the guide displays, press down arrow and release the guide listing continues to keep moving down until I press another button. If I press the up arrow it will continue rolling upward until I press the down arrow. this continues until I exit to live Tv.
I have rebooted both hot and cold no change. It was a real chore to get to the setting menu since the rolling happens in all menues. I also noticed that nothing will happen when press button until the Yellow light turns on, when press button yellow light goes out and rolling continues untill yellow light comes back on accepts input from remote. Now watching live tv and the yellow light is steady on. Press Guide button yellow light goes out but guide does not display. Keep pressing Guide button nothing happens until rellow light turns on steady and guide displays, press down arror multiple times and guide begins rolling down continuous until I press another arrow. It stops if i press the side arrow.

this started earlier this week, I changed the batteries in my remote and it fixed it. Replaced batteries again did not help apparently it was just Coincidental last time. About 5 days later (today) it started again. I have a series 3 hd xl less than a year old using Brighthouse dual cable card. Never had any problems before this week. Additional info I have several tivo remotes all have same problem so suspect TIVO hardware gone bad or tivo software problem.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Open to any suggestions.

Usually that behavior is caused by a stray IR signal coming from some other source. Do you have any other remotes sitting around that may have a book sitting on it, or perhaps it is stuffed in a seat cushion, It could also be flourescent lighting (including CFL). Also can be security system motion sensors.

Other causes are backlighting setting on an LCD. Try moving it higher. And also possibly a power saver feature on the TV. Turn that off.
