My not very old westinghouse tv died so I replaced it with a panasonic. Now Im having an issue because of the way I use my tv. I have it hooked to my bedroom tv via component, and then hdmi via an hdmi to cat6 converter.

My problem is that when I turn off power to the tv hooked via hdmi, I can't watch the tv hooked via component because it can't get a handshake. My old tv didn't have this problem. Im wondering if anyone knows of a way around this. The tv hooked via component has a dvi port that supports hdcp, if I buy an hdmi splitter would it work without disabling it, since it'd get a handshake from one tv, or would it see both tvs and want to handshake with both?

I don't understand why they don't let you hit select to keep hdmi blocked and let you output the other inputs, im sure my crappy SA cablebox allowed me to do this when I had it.

I'm having similar problems. I have my 3 TiVo's hooked up to a scaler via HDMI, and also to an RF modulator via composite. (My "other" TVs are standard def). If the scaler is off, all three tivos output properly over composite. If the scaler is on, and Tivo 1 is selected, Tivo 2 and Tivo 3 display "HDMI connection not permitted" over the composite output. If Tivo 2 is selected, Tivo 1 and Tivo 3 display the message, etc.

P.S. Just in case TiVo is listening: Unless you do something, UVerse is going to eat your lunch on the multiroom front. I love my TiVo's, but I am not willing to spend $250+$10/month for every remote TV, and then have to copy the shows from where they were recorded to where they are to be watched.

Isn't that just because the video that goes out the composite port is THE SAME as what is going out the HDMI port? i.e. except for quality differences, of course.
