PGA golf season pass

I have PGA Golf set up with a season pass. I discovered that I must set a pass for each network as well???

and even then, sometimes I discover that my Tivo (HD3) records the Golf Channel portion of a weekend broadcast, but the network portion does not record at a later time of the day - again, despite a season pass set up for that specific network channel? Pass is set for first runs only.

am I missing something?

Not sure about your specific problems but I record a lot of golf and have it set up as a wishlist recording (minus LPGA, Seniors and Nationwide since I don't watch them). That would span any channel.

The only time I've run into problems is when both tuners are recording some other season pass that conflicts.

Most, if not all, of the time, a Season Pass applies only to one channel. I can think of a couple of reasons for this:

One, if you receive two channels from the same network (where I live, I get both the San Francisco and Sacramento NBC stations), this prevents the box from recording the same program twice (or more than twice if you take HD and SD broadcasts into account) simultaneously;

Two, if a show in syndication is on two or more different channels, the TiVo can't be certain if they are airing the same episodes or different ones (especially when the guide information is incomplete) - again, by recording only one channel, it prevents duplicates.
