abc 30.1 in st. Louis replaced star trek with paid programing:(:( why would they do that?

Two possible reasons:
1) They needed to "make good" on a previously scheduled infomercial that was preempted for whatever reason.
2) They felt that they would get more revenue from airing an infomercial in that slot than they would from showing the normally scheduled programming.

If by Star Trek you mean the "remastered" version of the original series, that, sadly, has run its course.

Three years of once-a-week episodes, and now it's done.

Some areas are getting Next Generation in its place, but some places aren't.

Accorrding to one report, some places are actually getting what seems to be the remastered version of the original series five times a week.

This is the weekend that these changes are happening, so that's likely why it's just happened.

They did it because it makes them more money than airing Star Trek.

In the last year, both KMOV and KSDK pre-empted prime-time network programming to air infomercials, something that their network contract allows them to do X number of hours per year. Quite annoying when you actually want to watch the network show, and they move it to 3am without telling anyone (including the people that provide listings to TiVo and DirecTV).

I hate it with a passion. I can remember, though it's decades ago now, when the late-night hours were filled with all kinds of interesting but marginal programming. It was low-rated, but the time was cheap. Now that stuff doesn't air at all.

Yes it was the remastered star trek. guess i will just have to watch my star trek dvds.

st. louis 46.1 started playing Next Generation 5 times a week. Would be nice if they added deep space 9.

I doubt many tivo users record infomercials on purpose, or even watch them on live TV. But someone is watching and buying the products, or they wouldn't be on the air very long.

Most, if not all of the products are way over priced or a total rip off. It's unconscionable for the local stations to air this garbage and prey on the surrounding community.

It's really disturbing that government sectioned agencies like TV stations, telephone companies and the post office keep cramming this worthless marketing down the publics throat. Hardly a day goes by that I don't shred junk mail or block another telemarketer.

Thank goodness for TIVO. I can skip all the commercials and only watch the programing I want to watch.

I love Paid Programming! It helps support free OTA TV.
You meant cable TV that you actually pay to get?
Nevermind.... :p

I hate paid programming with a passion. What really annoys me is when they show it in the afternoon or evening hours. It is meant to be on in the middle of the night.

The infomercials are the most annoying boring stupid low budget things I have ever seen. I wish they would get rid of all of them and actually show some cheap b movie instead.

WCBS better not do that here. I go to watch CSI or Ghost Whispers and instead I get garbage like Celebrity Alb Secrets or some scam garbage like Internet Millions or Houses for $300. You better believe I will email the station some hate mail.
