new-to-me Tivo HD has pixelation/stuttering

I got a Tivo HD on Craigslist for $100 the other day (buyer beware, I know). I got it set up and I'm experiencing some audio stuttering and some moderate pixelation. Is this usually a drive issue, or is there something else I should look into?

One more thing... this was on live tv, without cable cards.

If your signal strength levels are good, the hard drive would be the first thing to check, IMO, followed by the power supply.
