Hi everyone.
I have just looked through the site and I can't seem to find the answer to my questions so if this is a repeat please forgive me.

We are moving into a new house and we are getting a HDTV. We currently use FIOS for internet and phone and Direct TV for TV but the new house is all wired for FIOS so I think that we are going to switch over.

So my question is what exactly do I have to do to get FIOS and TIVO to communicate. Will the Verizon guy know what to do or do I need to provide instructions. I am assuming I need to order the Tivo unit now so that it is there when Verizon comes out. What is the process for cable cards etc.

Also can we have Netflix movies streamed to the Tivo unit.

As you can see, I'm pretty clueless but it seems that you guys will be able to help me.
Thanks!

This TiVo Support page (http://support.tivo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/300/kw/FIOS/r_id/100041) should help get you started.

So my question is what exactly do I have to do to get FIOS and TIVO to communicate.

I just switched from Time Warner cable to Verizon FIOS.

I re-ran guided setup before the Verizon installer came so he wouldn't have to spend the extra time waiting for the TiVo to do its thing. Choose your new cable service location during guided setup.

The only other thing that needed to be done with the TiVo is to swap out the Time Warner cable cards and replace them with the Verizon cable cards. The tech called in the magic cable card numbers to Verizon and we were up and running with no problems. This was with an installer who admitted he had never dealt with a TiVo before. I did handle the TiVo remote to get him the the appropriate cable card menus.

So far we really like our FIOS.

Your new TiVo will come with a cable card installer direction sheet. Give that to the installer and you should be good to go.

In addition the following posts should help round out your "education" if you want to know more.

Yes, you can have Netflix Movies streamed to your TiVo (providing you have a Netflix account of course). YouTube Demo:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mCIKSj8bvY&hd=1

We've had VZ FIOS for a while now and wouldn't switch.

Enjoy!

...now I just have to call Verizon! You'll probably want to do that sooner than later. It was a little over two weeks for them to get to us once we called.

I think you'll be amazed at the improvement in picture quality w/FIOS and HD. :) It'll be like Christmas in September!

It only took Verizon a week to get to us. So, as always, YMMV.

I didn't tell my wife that the picture quality was going to be better with FIOS. To my surprise she commented on how much better the picture seemed to be. I had thought it looked better but wasn't sure if it looked better just because I expected it to.
